Their service labels and career paths vary by country, so the most useful comparison is the local team and role—not a universal ranking of the firms. Here’s how to understand their offerings, assess career fit, and interpret their reported global scale.
Quick comparison of services
| Firm | Service areas shown in the cited source | Scope to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Deloitte | Audit, Consulting, Enterprise Risk Services, Financial Advisory, Tax, and internal support; Deloitte later announced plans to align capabilities into Audit & Assurance, Tax & Legal, Strategy, Risk & Transactions, and Technology & Transformation. | The career categories come from a Middle East student page; the planned alignment was announced for FY2025 and illustrates that labels can change. Middle East careers; FY2024 announcement |
| PwC | Assurance, tax, and advisory; its US careers overview also calls out audit, business services, advisory, and tax. | The cited career and service description is US-specific, not a global organization chart. PwC US careers overview |
| EY | Assurance, Consulting, Tax & Law, and EY-Parthenon; the cited page also describes strategy and transactions, technology and data, and business support. | The career taxonomy is from EY Norway and may not match other countries. EY Norway careers |
| KPMG | Audit, Tax & Legal Services, and Advisory. | This is KPMG’s global description; it does not specify every local offering. KPMG global results |
At a high level, each network operates in overlapping areas: audit or assurance, tax, and advisory or consulting. A client’s practical choice depends on the need, local member firm, sector experience, engagement scope, and applicable independence restrictions. The firm-wide label alone does not establish which team is the better fit.
What the service labels mean
Audit and assurance
These labels cover work intended to provide assurance, including audits. The exact services and permitted scope depend on local rules and the member firm. For a company choosing a provider, confirm the specific engagement, team qualifications, and independence requirements rather than inferring quality from a network’s size.
Tax and legal
Tax appears across all four firms, while legal work is explicitly included in the cited EY Norway and KPMG global labels and in Deloitte’s announced Tax & Legal alignment. Whether legal services are available, and how they are organized, depends on the jurisdiction.
#1 Best Overall
Advisory, consulting, and related work
Advisory and consulting are broad categories, not interchangeable descriptions of one standardized service. The cited pages place strategy, transactions, risk, technology, data, and business support in different groupings. To compare providers, ask what the local team would deliver, who would do the work, and what relevant industry experience it has.
How to compare the firms for a career
There is no evidence here for a universal best employer. Official careers pages describe opportunities and development programs, but do not provide aligned measures of pay, hours, promotion, or employee satisfaction across all four. Compare the actual job and office you might join.
Rank #2
Start with the work and service line
Choose the work you want to learn: for example, audit, tax, risk, transactions, strategy, technology, or data. Then compare postings with the same service line and seniority. Job titles and organizational labels can differ, so read the responsibilities rather than relying on the department name.
Check location, entry route, and credentials
Hiring pathways and qualification expectations depend on country and role. Deloitte’s Middle East student page describes five service paths, professional qualification study, and possible movement between areas; mobility is an opportunity, not a guarantee. EY Norway describes early-career, graduate, and experienced hiring. PwC US advertises entry-level roles and a learning and development framework. These are regional examples, not proof of identical programs elsewhere. Deloitte Middle East careers; EY Norway careers; PwC careers and development

Compare the conditions that affect your day-to-day life
For the same city, service line, level, and start date, check current job postings and ask each local firm about:
- Required or supported professional credentials and exam-study arrangements.
- Client mix, industries, and the kinds of engagements a new hire is likely to join.
- Travel expectations, working arrangements, and typical busy periods.
- Compensation, benefits, learning support, and how performance and promotion are assessed.
Those details are not established on a comparable basis by the cited pages. Get them directly from the local recruiting team and, where possible, people doing the specific job.

Reported FY2024 scale: useful context, not a quality ranking
Each network reported global FY2024 revenue, but the fiscal year-end dates differ. The figures below are company-reported and should be read as scale context, not as a precise same-period league table or evidence of service quality.
| Network | Reported FY2024 revenue | Fiscal period or other reported scale detail |
|---|---|---|
| Deloitte | US$67.2 billion | Year ended 31 May 2024; approximately 460,000 people globally. Deloitte FY2024 announcement |
| PwC | US$55.4 billion gross revenue | Year ended 30 June 2024; more than 370,000 people. PwC also reported serving 86% of Global Fortune 500 companies and that 105,549 people joined PwC firms in FY2024. PwC US careers overview |
| EY | US$51.2 billion | Global FY2024 revenue; the cited source does not state a fiscal year-end date. EY FY2024 results |
| KPMG | US$38.4 billion | Globally aggregated member-firm revenue for the year ended 30 September 2024; KPMG reported 275,288 people globally. KPMG global results |
Because dates and reporting conventions are not fully synchronized, these numbers cannot settle which firm is the right employer or provider for a particular need. Revenue and headcount say nothing by themselves about a local team’s fit or results.

Quick Recap

A practical way to choose a firm or provider
- Define the need. Specify the role or service, seniority, location, sector, and expected work.
- Find the local member firm. Confirm the legal entity and the services it offers in that country; a global network name does not guarantee the same structure or scope everywhere.
- Compare like with like. For careers, use postings with the same city, service line, level, and start date. For a client engagement, compare proposals, team experience, scope, and independence considerations.
- Verify current details directly. Ask about qualifications, work pattern, learning support, compensation, or engagement deliverables as relevant. Service labels and job terms can change.
