The article attributed its figures to Forbes, but Forbes Italia published different estimates in other 2022 snapshots. The figures below are therefore best read as estimates from a named source and date—not as a single definitive year-end ranking.
The eight names and estimates in the May 2022 list
Metalli Rari’s May 2022 article gave the following estimates in U.S. dollars and attributed them to Forbes. Its ordinal labels include ties and skip numbers; the table preserves the reported amounts without imposing a different ranking convention. Metalli Rari’s list.
| Name | Estimate in the May 2022 list |
|---|---|
| Giorgio Armani | $6.5 billion |
| Miuccia Prada | $4.7 billion |
| Patrizio Bertelli | $4.7 billion |
| Valentino Garavani | $1.5 billion |
| Stefano Gabbana | $1.2 billion |
| Domenico Dolce | $1.2 billion |
| Roberto Cavalli | $500 million |
| Donatella Versace | $400 million |
Why 2022 estimates differ by source and date
“As of 2022” does not identify one fixed valuation date. Forbes Italia’s own published snapshots reported different estimates for several of the same people:
| Forbes Italia snapshot | Reported estimates |
|---|---|
| April 2022 | Giorgio Armani: $7.8 billion; Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli: $4 billion each. Forbes Italia, April 2022. |
| August 2022 | Giorgio Armani: $6.3 billion; Forbes Italia identified its calculations as current on July 15. Forbes Italia, August 2022. |
| December 2022 | Values updated to the December 5 market close: Giorgio Armani, $6.9 billion; Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada, $4.5 billion each; Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, $1.2 billion each. The article states that amounts are in dollars. Forbes Italia, December 15, 2022. |
These are different publisher snapshots, not evidence that one figure is the uniquely correct value for all of 2022. The December figures are the cited year-end snapshot; they should not be substituted silently for the estimates in Metalli Rari’s May list. Net worth figures of this kind are estimates, not audited personal balance sheets, and the cited articles do not explain each person’s calculation methodology.

Why Patrizio Bertelli appears on a designer list
The “fashion designers” label does not describe every entry equally well. Forbes Italia identifies Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada as Prada co-CEOs. Bertelli’s inclusion makes sense in a list tied to fashion-industry wealth, but the source does not establish that he is a fashion designer in the same sense as the other names.

How to read the ranking
- For the eight names and amounts in the title’s source, use the May 2022 Metalli Rari list and keep its attribution clear.
- For a later 2022 comparison, state the Forbes Italia snapshot date alongside each estimate.
- Do not compare rankings as if they were measured on the same date or under identical inclusion criteria.
- Treat each amount as a publisher’s estimate, not a precise statement of personal assets.
