To get an alert when Bitcoin reaches a price you choose, set a price condition in an app or charting service and enable the notification channel you want to use. Coinbase, Kraken Pro, and TradingView all document Bitcoin price-alert options; the steps and limits differ by service. A price alert is a notification, not an instruction to buy or sell.
Choose an alert service
Start with the app or charting service where you already follow Bitcoin (BTC). Pick the service based on how you want to be notified and what kind of trigger you need.

Platform procedures and features below reflect the providers’ help pages checked on October 7, 2026. Interfaces, notification options, and account limits can change.
Set a Bitcoin alert in Coinbase
- In the Coinbase mobile app, search for and select Bitcoin.
- Add Bitcoin to your watchlist using the star control. Coinbase says an asset must be on your watchlist for it to send a price alert.
- Tap the bell-plus control, choose Add Alert, select whether Bitcoin should move above or below your target, and enter the price.
- Save the alert.
- Open Account & Settings, then Notification Settings. For custom alerts, choose Custom Alerts and enable the delivery options you want, such as push, in-app, or email. Price Alerts covers predetermined alerts.

Set a Bitcoin alert in Kraken Pro
On the web
- Open or add the Alerts widget.
- Allow browser notifications when prompted if you want alerts delivered that way.
- Create a new alert, select the market and trigger parameters, enter the price, and activate the alert.
In the mobile app
- Allow push notifications for Kraken Pro in your device’s operating-system settings and in the app.
- Open the price-alert interface from the Markets page or an available market or order shortcut.
- Create and activate the alert. You can view, edit, or delete alerts in the platform.
Kraken’s help page says Futures alerts cannot currently be set on the app; it was last updated January 20, 2026. See Kraken Pro’s alert instructions.
Set a Bitcoin price alert in TradingView
- Open the Bitcoin market symbol you want to monitor and create an alert.
- Set the primary condition to Price, then choose whether the price must cross above or below your target and enter the threshold.
- Choose whether the alert should trigger once or repeatedly, and set an expiry or other supported timing behavior.
- Select how you want to be notified: available options include app notification, pop-up, email, webhook, or sound.
- Enable the selected delivery channel. App notifications require the TradingView mobile app; desktop pop-ups require browser notification permission.
The number of simultaneous alerts depends on your TradingView account plan. Open-ended alerts are not available for watchlist alerts. Check TradingView’s price-alert help and its alert-delivery guidance for current details.

Check that the notification can reach you
Creating an alert and receiving it are separate things. If an alert is saved but nothing arrives, check the conditions below for the service and channel you chose.
- Confirm the alert itself: Check that it is active, has the right Bitcoin market, target, and direction, and has not expired.
- Check in-app settings: Coinbase requires Bitcoin to be on your watchlist and custom-alert notifications to be enabled.
- Check device permissions: For Kraken Pro mobile alerts, allow push notifications both in the operating system and in the app.
- Check browser permissions: Kraken Pro browser alerts and TradingView desktop pop-ups require browser notification access.
- Check plan or feature limits: TradingView’s active-alert allowance depends on the account plan. Kraken’s documented mobile limitation applies to Futures alerts.
After setting the alert, verify that the chosen channel is enabled and that the alert appears in the platform’s alert list. The providers’ instructions describe setup and delivery options but do not establish a universally suitable alert frequency.

Choose a useful threshold
Set a level tied to a decision you actually want to revisit: for example, a price above which you want to check the market, or a lower level that would prompt you to review your plan. You can use more than one level if that helps you check less often, but no alert frequency or threshold is right for everyone. An alert only tells you that its condition was met; it does not determine what you should do next.

A price alert notifies you when the selected condition is met. It does not, by itself, buy or sell Bitcoin. Coinbase explicitly says its price alerts do not place orders; do not treat a notification setting as an automated trading instruction.
