Did Robinhood Add $25 Million in Bitcoin to Its Balance Sheet? What’s Confirmed

Robinhood’s reported $25 million bitcoin purchase remains unconfirmed in the company disclosures reviewed. Customer crypto held in linked wallets is not the same as corporate treasury bitcoin.

Robinhood’s reported $25 million bitcoin purchase is not confirmed by the company’s financial disclosures reviewed for this article. TokenPost attributed the claim to Robinhood executive Johann Kerbrat, but another report says official disclosures do not show the purchase. The key distinction: crypto held in wallets linked to Robinhood may belong to customers, not to the company.

What is known about the reported $25 million bitcoin purchase?

TokenPost reported on October 6, 2026, that Robinhood added $25 million worth of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, attributing the disclosure to Johann Kerbrat, the company’s senior vice president and general manager for international and crypto operations. The article said he disclosed the purchase on October 7, but the reporting is secondary: the materials reviewed do not include a company announcement, filing, or direct quotation from Kerbrat confirming the transaction. TokenPost’s report

A separate report disputes the treasury interpretation, saying Robinhood’s official financial disclosures show no such purchase and distinguishing customer custody wallets from company-owned assets. Crypto Briefing’s report

Robinhood announced its Q2 2026 results on July 29, 2026, for the quarter ended June 30. Those official results provide company context, but the indexed materials reviewed do not substantiate the specific bitcoin purchase. Robinhood’s Q2 2026 results and its SEC-filed earnings release

Bitkey Bitcoin Hardware Wallet, No Screen - Self-Custody, No Seed Phrase
  • BITCOIN EXCLUSIVE, PHONE VERIFICATION: Bitkey is designed from the ground up exclusively for bitcoin — a dedicated hardware wallet for secure bitcoin storage. Approve transactions with a tap using your phone and NFC. No device screen is required.
  • SELF-CUSTODY, NO EXCHANGE OR CUSTODIAN REQUIRED: You hold two of the three keys in the Bitkey system – one on your phone and one on your Bitkey device. The third is stored on Bitkey’s server and cannot move your bitcoin on its own.
  • NO SEED PHRASE: Set up and use Bitkey without creating or storing a seed phrase.
  • 2-of-3 MULTISIG: Three keys are stored separately across your phone, Bitkey device, and Bitkey’s server. Any two keys are required to move your bitcoin.
  • BUILT-IN RECOVERY: Encrypted backup and recovery tools can help you regain access if you lose your phone or Bitkey device. You can also designate a Recovery Contact.

Why customer crypto and corporate bitcoin are different

Crypto held by a financial platform for customers is not automatically an investment owned by that platform. Robinhood’s FY2025 Form 10-K describes customer-facing cryptocurrency services, including storage and management across multiple networks; that business activity does not establish that Robinhood owns the assets as corporate treasury.

Crypto Briefing cited an Arkham Intelligence estimate of approximately $24.96 billion to $25 billion in digital assets linked to Robinhood wallets as of October 1, 2026, describing them as customer custody assets. This third-party wallet estimate is not a Robinhood balance-sheet figure, and it is not evidence of a $25 billion corporate bitcoin holding. The estimate is also three orders of magnitude larger than the separately reported $25 million purchase, so the two figures should not be conflated. What the claim does—and does not—say about Robinhood’s crypto strategy

Robinhood has an established crypto business, and the company’s Q2 2026 messaging described a broad product agenda. CEO Vlad Tenev said, “Whether it’s the Robinhood Chain, Robinhood Ventures, or Trump Accounts, our product velocity is focused on one goal: making everyone an owner.” That statement concerns overall product strategy; it does not confirm a bitcoin purchase.

Even if the reported transaction is eventually confirmed, the claim alone would not establish why Robinhood bought bitcoin, whether it plans recurring purchases, or whether the amount is financially material. The sources reviewed do not establish the transaction date, bitcoin quantity, funding source, accounting classification, or custody arrangement.

What could confirm the purchase

A company announcement or SEC filing that identifies bitcoin as a corporate asset would provide primary confirmation. Robinhood’s Q3 2026 results were listed for October 27, 2026; any official disclosure then could clarify whether a purchase occurred and how the company accounts for it. Until such confirmation appears, the $25 million figure should be treated as a reported claim rather than an established balance-sheet fact. Robinhood Investor Relations
