Vacheron Constantin’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) programme gives buyers of eligible pre-owned watches sold through authorized resellers a watch inspected and serviced by a Maison watchmaker, an international warranty of at least two years, and a digital passport with accompanying programme materials. Announced in November 2024 with Watchfinder as its launch collaborator, the programme’s published terms do not establish a complete current seller list, a universal inspection checklist, or a guaranteed price or resale benefit.

What the Vacheron Constantin CPO programme includes

Vacheron Constantin says the programme supports clients buying pre-owned watches from authorized resellers and certifies that each watch functions properly and conforms to the Maison’s quality standards. The brand’s Certified Pre-Owned page states: “The Certified Pre-Owned programme ensures that each timepiece is carefully inspected by a Vacheron Constantin watchmaker and serviced accordingly.”

  • Inspection and servicing: Each programme watch is inspected by a Vacheron Constantin watchmaker and serviced accordingly.
  • Warranty: An international warranty of at least two years.
  • Digital passport: Direct access to key information about the watch.
  • Physical programme items: A programme seal, guarantee letter, physical warranty card, and pouch.

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry’s November 28, 2024 launch announcement adds that the passport is based on blockchain technology and includes information such as ownership history and a technical manual. Those details come from the launch announcement; the current brand service page confirms a digital passport but does not specify its technology or contents to the same extent.

When it launched and who was involved

The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry dated its announcement November 28, 2024, describing the programme as launched worldwide with Watchfinder, which it called a longstanding Vacheron Constantin partner. The brand’s launch post also named Watchfinder and said further authorized retailers and auction houses were planned.

That wording records the launch plan, not proof that every planned retailer or auction-house channel is currently active. Richemont’s Annual Report and Accounts 2025 later described the CPO service as a new addition to Vacheron Constantin’s offering, involving carefully inspected and certified watches and a minimum two-year warranty.

Where to buy a certified pre-owned Vacheron Constantin

The brand describes CPO watches as pre-owned watches bought through authorized resellers. Watchfinder is the named launch collaborator, making it a sensible starting point, but the cited launch materials do not establish current inventory, availability in a particular country, or whether a specific listing is part of the CPO programme. Check the watch’s listing and ask the seller to confirm its programme status and authorization before relying on CPO benefits.

The available official information does not provide a complete current participant list by geography. Do not assume that every Vacheron Constantin reseller, auction house, or marketplace listing is covered. A watch advertised as pre-owned is not necessarily a CPO watch.

What the published terms do not tell you

The published programme details establish certain benefits, but they do not answer every question that affects the value or risk of a particular purchase. Before committing, ask the seller for the watch-specific terms in writing.

  • Inspection scope: The brand confirms inspection and servicing, but does not publish a detailed checklist or explain what work was performed on an individual watch. Request the available service and inspection records.
  • Warranty coverage: The stated minimum is two years internationally. Confirm the exact start date, exclusions, claims process, and whether the paperwork supplied with that specific watch shows its warranty terms.
  • Eligibility: The cited materials do not set a universal minimum or maximum age for watches entering the programme.
  • Returns and price: No universal return policy or programme price premium is specified. Check the individual seller’s terms and compare the asking price with other offers for the same reference and condition.
  • Provenance and future value: The launch announcement describes ownership-history information in the passport, but the sources do not establish that every historical detail is complete. Certification also does not guarantee a resale value or price appreciation.

How to compare a CPO watch with another pre-owned offer

Compare the specific watch and seller rather than relying on the CPO label alone. The programme provides a defined set of inspection, warranty, passport, and physical-material benefits; other purchase terms still need to be checked individually.
