Aviation Week’s 2025 purchase-planning table reports equipped prices for six light and very light jets, so those six—not a speculative top ten—are the models that can be compared on a 2025 basis. The figures are U.S. dollars and are aircraft prices, not full acquisition or ownership budgets.
What the 2025 price data can—and cannot—rank
Aviation Week’s 2025 Business Airplanes purchase-planning table labels its price measure “BCA Equipped Price.” It provides a comparable 2025 snapshot for six models, but does not establish a complete ranking of the ten cheapest new jets across all very-light and light-jet models. The table below therefore orders only those six aircraft by the listed equipped price; it should not be read as a definitive ten-jet ranking.
| Rank within the six-model comparison | Aircraft | 2025 BCA equipped price (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Citation M2 Gen2 | $6,250,000 |
| 2 | HondaJet Elite II | $7,170,000 |
| 3 | Citation CJ3 Gen2 | $10,990,000 |
| 4 | Citation CJ4 Gen2 | $12,200,000 |
| 5 | Embraer Phenom 300E | $12,895,000 |
| 6 | Pilatus PC-24 | $13,995,000 |
All six prices are Aviation Week’s 2025 BCA equipped prices, in U.S. dollars. They are not directly interchangeable with later list-price compilations that may use a different equipment basis.
Why a current top ten is not a 2025 ranking
A separate compilation checked list prices on October 5, 2026, and described its entries as the ten lowest new prices among jets in production. It is useful for a current comparison, but it does not establish what the same aircraft cost in 2025. Its list is: Cirrus Vision Jet G3, $3.5 million; Embraer Phenom 100EX, $5.8 million; Cessna Citation M2 Gen2, $7.0 million; HondaJet Elite II, $7.6 million; Citation CJ3 Gen2, $11.7 million; Citation CJ4 Gen2, $12.8 million; Embraer Phenom 300E, $13.4 million; Pilatus PC-24, $14.3 million; Cessna Citation Ascend, $18.2 million; and Embraer Praetor 500, $21.6 million. These are that compilation’s typically equipped list prices, not Aviation Week’s 2025 BCA equipped prices. Source: CRAFT’s current price compilation.

The overlapping models have different numbers in the 2025 and 2026 snapshots, which is why the year and price basis matter. The 2026 list describes typical aircraft before options, completion and delivery costs; registration and sales or use taxes are additional, and manufacturers quote individual aircraft. It should not be used to fill gaps in a 2025 ranking.
What an aircraft price leaves out
An equipped or typically equipped price is only one part of the cash required to acquire and operate a jet. Depending on the aircraft and transaction, the final acquisition figure can also reflect selected options, completion and delivery charges, registration and applicable taxes. After purchase, the owner must budget for recurring fixed costs and flight-hour-dependent expenses; depreciation, financing, refurbishment and upgrades can add further costs.

As category-level estimates—not quotes for a particular aircraft—CRAFT puts median very-light-jet fixed costs at $310,000 per year and variable costs at $2,000 per flight hour. Its modeled annual totals are $511,000 at 100 hours, $712,000 at 200 hours and $1.1 million at 400 hours. The estimates exclude depreciation, financing, refurbishment and upgrades. CRAFT’s ownership-cost estimates should be treated as planning context, not a forecast for any one jet.
For light jets, CRAFT estimates median fixed costs of $487,000 per year and variable costs of $3,400 per flight hour. Its modeled annual totals are $824,000 at 100 hours, $1.2 million at 200 hours and $1.8 million at 400 hours, with the same exclusions. Actual budgets depend on the individual aircraft, utilization, maintenance and operating arrangements. CRAFT’s category estimates do not replace an aircraft-specific budget.

How to compare the six aircraft for your mission
The lowest equipped price is not necessarily the lowest-cost or best-fit aircraft for a buyer. Aviation Week’s table includes seating, cabin dimensions, payload and baggage capacity, as well as systems and mission-performance specifications. Compare those data against the trips you expect to make rather than choosing on price alone.
- Passenger and baggage needs: Check seating, cabin dimensions, payload and baggage capacity for the number of people and luggage you actually expect to carry.
- Trip distance and runway: Match the intended routes and airports to published range and runway requirements, allowing for the effect of passenger load and fuel/payload trade-offs.
- Price basis: Confirm the quote’s date and what equipment it includes, then identify options, completion, delivery, taxes and registration costs that may be separate.
- Ownership burden: Build a model-specific budget that accounts for expected hours, fixed and hourly costs, maintenance and any engine-program status relevant to the aircraft.
The available specifications support comparing these dimensions, but do not establish one universal winner: the right choice depends on the buyer’s passenger, baggage, route, runway and budget requirements. Aviation Week’s 2025 purchase-planning table is the source for the six-model prices and specifications.

Does “cheapest private jet” mean new or used?
No. A new-aircraft price ranking and a used-aircraft bargain search are different comparisons. Older used examples such as the Falcon 10/100, Learjet 35A and Citation I may trade below $1 million, according to CRAFT’s compilation, but those observations are not a verified ranked list of current bargains. A low asking price can come with significant differences in age, hours and cycles, engine maintenance-program status, inspection timing, avionics, interior, damage history and records. A pre-purchase inspection and records review are essential parts of evaluating an individual aircraft. CRAFT’s used-market discussion.
Eclipse Aerospace advertises a $2.995 million acquisition cost for the Eclipse 550 and makes its own claims about fuel use and operating economy. That manufacturer-advertised figure is not evidence that the model belonged in a 2025 ranking of new jets in production; the available information does not establish that it was then being delivered as an in-production aircraft.
