BeyGOOD announced a $2.5 million donation; FireAid reported an estimated $100 million raised across multiple sources and $50 million in first-phase grants. Those figures describe different stages of giving—not a single tally of cash already received by survivors.
Which celebrities and public figures announced support?
BeyGOOD and Beyoncé
Parkwood Entertainment and BeyGOOD announced on Jan. 12, 2025, a $2.5 million donation to an LA Fire Relief Fund. The announcement said the money would aid families in Altadena and Pasadena who lost homes, as well as churches and community centers serving displaced residents. This was a foundation fund donation; the announcement is available from BeyGOOD.
FireAid’s named private donors
FireAid named the Azoff family, the Eagles, Andrew Hauptman and Ellen Bronfman Hauptman, and U2 among private donors to its relief effort. Its announcement did not state individual amounts for those gifts. FireAid’s overall fundraising figure includes many sources, so it should not be presented as the amount donated by any one performer or public figure.
What did FireAid raise, and where did the money go?
FireAid reported an estimated $100 million raised and $50 million in first-phase grants. The fundraising total combined ticket sales, sponsorships, merchandise, public donations, and named private gifts. FireAid said its first grants prioritized community-based organizations; a second phase was intended to focus on longer-term recovery, remediation, rebuilding, and environmental issues. Its announcement said, “Rebuilding efforts will be the focus for FireAid phase two grants.” See FireAid for the organization’s announcement.

The $100 million is a fundraising estimate, not a single donor’s gift or a measure of aid delivered directly to households. The $50 million describes grants in the first phase, not necessarily money already received by each person affected.

Comcast NBCUniversal described its $10 million as a company donation. The Wonderful Company’s release likewise described a company commitment, while identifying its owners as Lynda and Stewart Resnick; that does not make the pledge a personal donation by the owners. Comcast’s announcement is at Comcast, and The Wonderful Company’s at The Wonderful Company.

How much money was raised for Los Angeles wildfire relief overall?
A Milken Institute draft report estimated $860 million to $970 million in charitable commitments for 2025 fire recovery. The range is a draft estimate, not an audited final total. The report said public data were inconsistent, some gifts were undisclosed, and some commitments had not been fully disbursed when analyzed. It used two approaches that yielded different totals: counting intermediary funds can risk double-counting transfers, while incomplete disclosure can leave gifts out. The estimate should therefore be read as a qualified range, not a definitive sum of aid delivered. See the Milken Institute report.

What do “donated,” “raised,” “granted,” and “delivered” mean?
- Donation or commitment: A stated contribution or pledge. A commitment may be staged or not yet disbursed.
- Fundraising total: Money collected from multiple sources. FireAid’s estimate, for example, included tickets, sponsorships, merchandise, public giving, and private gifts.
- Grant awarded: An allocation to a nonprofit or other recipient. An award is one step in the money’s path; it does not by itself prove a household has received cash.
- Aid delivered: Assistance received by an individual, family, worker, or community organization. Some groups report counts of cash grants, but the cited announcements do not provide complete disbursement records for all funds.
Funds and nonprofits can route donations through multiple layers. The Milken Institute draft describes large corporate gifts going to established disaster-relief organizations or philanthropic funds, alongside institutional grants to local nonprofits. Local relationships can help route support to community organizations, though regranting may make it harder to trace the original donor through to the ultimate use.
Is there a complete list of celebrity and billionaire donations?
No. The public announcements cited here are selected examples, not a complete donor roster. They do not establish a final, independently audited total of every celebrity’s or billionaire’s personal giving. Some contributions are private, some figures describe pooled fundraising, and some commitments were not fully disbursed at the time of the Milken Institute draft analysis. It is more accurate to say “among those who announced support” than to imply the named people and organizations are the full list.
