The Nifty 50 rose 0.60% to 22,555.75 on Monday, October 5, 2026, even as several constituents fell. In a report published at 3:36 PM IST during the session, Business Upturn listed HCL Technologies as the steepest decliner, down 3.5% to ₹1,200, followed by Max Healthcare, down 2.9% to ₹914, and HDFC Bank, down 2.3% to ₹704.60. Those are the outlet’s contemporaneous figures, not a verified closing table.

Which Nifty 50 stocks were reported among the top losers?

Business Upturn’s October 5 report listed these Nifty 50 shares among the session’s decliners. The percentages and prices below are the figures in its 3:36 PM IST report; the article was published before the session had necessarily concluded.

Share Reported price Reported change Sector
HCL Technologies ₹1,200 -3.5% Information technology
Max Healthcare ₹914 -2.9% Healthcare
HDFC Bank ₹704.60 -2.3% Banking
Asian Paints ₹2,363 -1.8% Paints and consumer products
Apollo Hospitals ₹8,000 -1.6% Healthcare
Infosys ₹1,019 -1.6% Information technology

The report also named Sun Pharma, Cipla, Nestle India and HDFC Life among decliners, but did not provide their prices or percentage falls in the available account. The list spans several industries; a one-session ranking describes that day’s price movement, not the companies’ relative investment quality.

Why do other reports show different prices and declines?

Stock prices and percentage changes can differ across reports when the snapshots are taken at different times or use different reporting conventions. HDFC SKY’s separately timed snapshot at 3:30 PM IST on October 5 showed the following figures:

Share HDFC SKY price HDFC SKY change
HCL Technologies ₹1,201.90 -3.31%
Max Healthcare ₹917 -2.55%
Apollo Hospitals ₹7,985 -1.83%
Asian Paints ₹2,366 -1.70%
Infosys ₹1,020.50 -1.40%

ET Now’s October 5 liveblog excerpt also reported different declines for HCL Technologies, Asian Paints and Max Healthcare. Because these are distinct snapshots and the liveblog excerpt contains a conflicting statement about the Nifty’s direction, they should not be combined into one supposedly definitive ranking. The available reports do not establish an exchange-verified consolidated closing list.

How did the broader market perform?

Business Upturn reported that the Nifty 50 gained 0.60% to 22,555.75 on October 5, 2026. It also reported the Sensex up 0.66% to 72,382.47, Bank Nifty up 0.48% to 54,714.10, and Midcap Nifty up 0.64% to 13,649.30. These are that outlet’s reported session figures, not independently verified exchange data.

Rank #2

An index can rise while individual constituents fall: the index reflects the combined movement of its constituent shares, so declines in some stocks can occur alongside gains elsewhere. The listed losers therefore do not, by themselves, contradict the reported advance in the Nifty 50.

What caused these shares to fall?

The cited reports identify the stocks’ reported price moves but do not establish a company-specific reason for every decline. Price movement alone is not enough to attribute a fall to earnings, company news, sector trends or any other cause. The figures are best read as a dated snapshot of market performance, not an explanation of why each share moved.
