Applying fitment factors of 2.0, 2.15, 2.28 or 2.57 to the first 7th CPC pay-matrix cell gives illustrative basic-pay amounts of ₹70,800 to ₹1,22,332.40 for Levels 6–8. These are what-if calculations—not announced 8th CPC salaries. The Commission’s official materials describe its work and terms of reference, but do not confirm any of these factors or publish a new Level 6–8 pay matrix (Ministry of Finance, 28 October 2025; 8th Central Pay Commission).
What the calculator shows
Each result below is the first-cell basic pay for a 7th CPC level multiplied directly by the selected scenario factor. The baseline values—₹35,400 for Level 6, ₹44,900 for Level 7 and ₹47,600 for Level 8—come from the 2016 revised pay rules (Department of Expenditure pay matrix).
| 7th CPC level | Starting basic pay | × 2.0 | × 2.15 | × 2.28 | × 2.57 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Level 6 | ₹35,400 | ₹70,800 | ₹76,110 | ₹80,712 | ₹90,978 |
| Level 7 | ₹44,900 | ₹89,800 | ₹96,535 | ₹1,02,372 | ₹1,15,393 |
| Level 8 | ₹47,600 | ₹95,200 | ₹1,02,340 | ₹1,08,528 | ₹1,22,332.40 |
The amounts are direct multiplication, not official future pay-cell placements. The Level 8 result at 2.57 retains the decimal produced by the arithmetic; an interface that rounds to whole rupees should disclose that display choice.
How to calculate your own scenario
- Find your current basic pay. Use the amount for your actual pay cell, not automatically the first-cell amount shown in the table.
- Choose a hypothetical factor. For example, use 2.15 as the multiplier in a what-if calculation.
- Multiply basic pay by the factor. For ₹50,000 basic pay, the 2.15 scenario is ₹50,000 × 2.15 = ₹1,07,500 basic pay.
The formula is current basic pay × selected factor. It does not determine how a future commission or government would map an employee to a pay cell.

What these figures include—and exclude
The table represents projected basic pay only. It is not gross monthly salary, take-home pay or a confirmed salary increase. It does not calculate allowances such as HRA or transport allowance, dearness allowance treatment, tax, deductions, pension contributions, arrears or future pay-fixation rules. A multiplier applied to basic pay alone therefore cannot establish the change in take-home pay.
What is confirmed about the 8th CPC
The Ministry of Finance’s Press Information Bureau said the Union Cabinet approved the 8th CPC Terms of Reference on 28 October 2025. The Commission is to make recommendations within 18 months of its constitution and may send interim reports as recommendations on matters are finalized. The terms identify considerations including economic conditions and fiscal prudence, resources for development and welfare, unfunded non-contributory pension costs, effects on State Government finances, and prevailing emoluments and working conditions in Central Public Sector Undertakings and the private sector (Press Information Bureau announcement).

The Commission’s official site gives its constitution date as 3 November 2025 and lists 2026 activity. That confirms an active review process, not a selected fitment factor or a new Level 6–8 matrix (8th Central Pay Commission official site).
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why 2.57 is not an 8th CPC forecast
The Seventh CPC report discussed a 2.57 conversion factor in the context of the 7th CPC’s recommendations and pay-matrix construction. That is historical context only; it does not establish that the 8th CPC will use the same multiplier (Report of the Seventh Central Pay Commission). The four factors in the table should be read strictly as user-selected assumptions.
