The Block reported on Oct. 6, 2026, that a switch for newly created markets was tentatively targeted for Nov. 2, after a canary period expected to run through Oct. 30. Existing Conditional Tokens Framework (CTF) holdings will not be converted, and Polymarket says app and website users do not need to perform a technical migration.
What Polymarket Protocol V2 is
Protocol V2 is a rebuilt smart-contract system for Polymarket markets. The reported redesign brings position handling, collateral, trading exchanges, routing and market resolution into a new architecture. Its rollout is gradual: the current production canary is limited, and the reported Nov. 2 target applies to newly created markets, not a wholesale conversion of the existing market book.
The date is a plan reported by The Block, not a confirmed completion date. The report said the canary was expected to continue through Oct. 30; both dates are subject to change.
What changes in V2
| Area | Legacy CTF setup | Protocol V2 |
|---|---|---|
| Positions | Existing holdings use Conditional Tokens Framework token IDs. | V2 uses version-specific position IDs managed through PositionManager. Polymarket’s migration guide says existing CTF holdings are not converted. |
| Trading and settlement | Existing CTF markets continue to require CTF-compatible support. | Trading uses ExchangeV3 with signing domain version “3” and new approval targets. Split, merge and redemption go through Router, according to Polymarket’s migration guide. |
| Collateral | The earlier exchange stack used USDC.e before its April 2026 upgrade. | The Block describes V2 as using pUSD collateral. Polymarket’s help article describes pUSD as a Polygon ERC-20 backed 1:1 by USDC, with backing enforced on-chain. |
| Market types | Not stated for the legacy system in the cited Protocol V2 rollout report. | The Block reported four initial types: Binary, Atomic Neg-risk, Incremental Neg-risk and Combinatorial. |
| Resolution | Not stated for the legacy system in the cited Protocol V2 rollout report. | A new OracleAggregator is intended to connect resolution to UMA, Chainlink and other data sources, according to The Block. |
The April 28, 2026 exchange-stack upgrade and Protocol V2 are related but separate events. Polymarket’s help-center article about the earlier upgrade says that cutover cleared open orders and required approvals, while active positions carried over and resolved normally. That account does not mean existing CTF holdings are converted in the later Protocol V2 rollout.

What users need to do
Polymarket’s migration guide says: “App and website users: No technical migration is required. Complete any approval prompts shown in the app.” If you use Polymarket through its app or website, follow any approval prompt presented there; the guide does not call for manually moving existing CTF holdings to V2.
What developers and integrations need to change
Integrators need to support both market versions while legacy CTF holdings or markets remain relevant. Polymarket’s migration guide says to select V2 position IDs or CTF token IDs based on the market version. For V2, integrations must implement the ExchangeV3 order flow, use signing domain version “3,” update approval targets, read balances from PositionManager, and use Router for split, merge and redemption. Retaining CTF support is necessary for existing holdings and markets that have not moved to V2.

The official CTF Exchange V2 repository describes operator-driven order matching, multiple settlement types, signature schemes and wrapped collateral, and lists Polygon deployments and audit-report links. Those are implementation details for the exchange repository; they should not be mistaken for a complete description of the broader Protocol V2 rollout.
What is live, and what remains planned
- Live: A limited set of production canary markets is running on Protocol V2, according to The Block’s Oct. 6 report.
- Planned: The report gave Nov. 2, 2026, as a tentative target for switching newly created markets to V2 after a canary expected to run through Oct. 30. It is not a firm or completed migration date.
- Not established: V2 reportedly includes provisions for moving positions, collateral and resolutions across chains, but the available rollout report does not give a launch date or name supported target networks. Treat this as an architectural provision, not an available cross-chain feature.
What the security claims do—and do not—show
The Block reported that Protocol V2 code was audited by Cantina, Certora, Quantstamp, SigmaPrime, Zellic and Pashov, and that Certora formally verified code. It also reported a bug bounty offering up to $5 million for critical findings. The official V2 repository lists Quantstamp and Cantina audit reports and points to a Cantina bounty program.
