MRPL Share Price: What the Reported 6.95% Rise on 6 October 2026 Means

Univest reported that Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (NSE: MRPL) rose 6.95% across two sessions, citing a last-traded price of ₹176.15 on 6 October 2026 and a starting price of ₹164.70. That figure is not confirmed by the available closing-price history: MRPL closed at ₹174.72 on 6 October, and the two-session close-to-close move shown by the available data was different. Univest also said it had not established a company-specific catalyst.

What was the MRPL share price on 6 October 2026?

Univest’s 6 October 2026 report gave MRPL’s last-traded price as ₹176.15 and described a cumulative 6.95% increase from ₹164.70 over two sessions. The report does not establish that ₹176.15 was the official closing price, so the figure should be read as Univest’s reported last-traded price and percentage—not as a verified close-to-close return. How long was the reported MRPL share-price rise streak?

Univest described a two-session rise, from its stated ₹164.70 base to a last-traded price of ₹176.15. The available historical closing prices show gains on 5 and 6 October compared with the preceding available close, but the closing-price series does not reproduce the reported 6.95% figure.

Date MRPL closing price Change from prior listed close
1 October 2026 ₹164.76 —
5 October 2026 ₹172.43 Up 4.66% from 1 October
6 October 2026 ₹174.72 Up 1.33% from 5 October

These figures are from Stock Analysis’s historical daily price table. The two closing sessions together produce a different result from Univest’s 6.95% report because the prices and price basis differ: Univest used ₹164.70 and ₹176.15, while the historical closes were ₹164.76, ₹172.43 and ₹174.72. Why do the 6.95% report and closing data differ?

A percentage change depends on the starting price, ending price and measurement point. A last-traded figure during a session is not necessarily the same as that session’s close. Here, the reported base and last-traded price do not match the available historical closing prices, so the 6.95% should remain attributed to Univest rather than presented as independently verified by the close series.

What caused MRPL to rise?

The available evidence does not establish a cause. Univest said it had not identified a company-specific catalyst. NSE’s quote-page results show a clarification request and related notices dated 1 October, but the available information does not connect those notices to the price movement reported for 5–6 October. A rising price pattern by itself does not show whether news, broader market conditions or other trading factors drove the move. Without a confirmed disclosure or other evidence tying an event to the rise, attributing it to a particular announcement would go beyond what is established.

How to read the MRPL rise-streak report

For a fair comparison between a market report and exchange or historical-price records, check the measurement basis and dates before relying on the percentage:

  1. Identify whether the figure is an intraday or last-traded price, or a session close.
  2. Check the exact starting and ending dates.
  3. Verify which starting and ending prices the percentage uses.
  4. Look for a company or exchange disclosure that confirms any claimed catalyst; do not infer one from the price movement alone.
