Whether it is a strong ETF right now depends on whether that focused exposure fits your portfolio and risk tolerance. The latest year-to-date figure available here ends June 30, 2026—not October 2026—so it cannot establish how the fund has performed since then.
What PKB invests in
The Invesco Building & Construction ETF seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the Dynamic Building & Construction Intellidex Index. The index selects companies based on price momentum, earnings momentum, quality, management action, and value. Its universe includes U.S. companies principally involved in building, remodeling, related engineering, or large infrastructure projects. Invesco says the fund and index are rebalanced and reconstituted quarterly, in February, May, August, and November. Invesco’s fund page describes the strategy.

This is a focused industry strategy, not a substitute for a broad-market ETF. Invesco’s Q4 2025 fact sheet listed 30 holdings as of December 31, 2025; that dated count should not be treated as the current portfolio size. The fact sheet also reported a 0.03% 30-day SEC yield on that date.
How its reported performance compares
The August 28, 2026 SEC-hosted prospectus reports PKB’s year-to-date return as 20.92% through June 30, 2026. Its trailing returns below cover different periods, each ending December 31, 2025. The distinction matters: the YTD number does not extend through October, and the trailing-period results do not include 2026.

| Period ended December 31, 2025 | PKB annualized return before taxes | S&P 500 return | Underlying index return |
|---|---|---|---|
| One year | 22.75% | 17.88% | 23.53% |
| Five years | 17.99% | 14.42% | 18.69% |
| Ten years | 14.96% | 14.82% | 15.68% |
These figures are reproduced in the SEC-hosted PKB summary prospectus. The fund’s results were above the S&P 500 over the reported five-year period and slightly above it over ten years, while below the underlying index for all three periods. Index returns do not deduct fund fees or expenses, so they are not directly equivalent to investor returns. The prospectus cautions that past performance does not necessarily predict future results.
What PKB costs
Invesco lists a 0.57% total expense ratio and a 0.50% management fee. The prospectus’s hypothetical fee example estimates $58 in costs after one year and $183 after three years on a $10,000 investment, using the assumptions stated in the prospectus. Brokerage commissions and other intermediary charges may be additional. See the SEC-hosted prospectus disclosures and Invesco’s current fund page for the fee details.

- Industry concentration: Building and construction companies can be more affected by conditions in their industry and the broader economy than holdings spread across many sectors. Invesco warns that industry-focused investments may face greater risk and market volatility than more diversified investments.
- Non-diversification and company size: PKB is identified as non-diversified. Its small- and mid-sized company exposure can make it more vulnerable to adverse developments and more volatile than funds focused on larger companies.
- Equity and tracking risk: Stock prices can fall because of market-wide or company-specific events. PKB’s return may differ from its index, and the index’s reported returns exclude fund fees and expenses.
These risks are described on Invesco’s fund page and in its SEC prospectus disclosures.
How to decide whether PKB fits your portfolio
PKB may merit consideration if you specifically want exposure to U.S. building and construction companies and can accept a focused, equity-sector investment. Its historical returns offer context, not a reason by themselves to buy: they cover dated periods and do not resolve whether the fund fits your needs today.
Before comparing PKB with another construction or homebuilding ETF, line up the same observation dates and evaluate:
- Expense ratio and trading costs.
- Index methodology, including screening and how holdings are weighted.
- Holdings count and concentration by industry and company.
- Total returns over matching periods.
- Volatility and downside behavior, not only headline returns.
The available figures do not establish a current, matched-period ranking against peers. Current price, premium or discount, holdings, and performance after June 30, 2026 are not verified here; check current fund information and market data before making a decision. ETF shares are bought and sold through brokerage accounts, and suitability depends on your objectives, time horizon, and ability to tolerate losses.
