Dangote Cement is exploring a possible London listing, but it has not confirmed a completed deal or final terms. Semafor reported on 5 October 2026 that the group pitched London investors in late September and hopes to raise up to $1 billion during 2026. Those fundraising and timing details come from a person familiar with the plans, not a final company offer.

What Dangote Cement has officially confirmed

In a 12 May 2026 disclosure, Dangote Cement said it was at a preliminary stage of exploring a possible secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange. The company said any transaction would depend on corporate and regulatory approvals, final terms and market conditions. It added: “There is no certainty that the proposed listing will be completed or, if completed, as to the terms or timing thereof.” Read the May disclosure.

That remains the formal position to distinguish from later reporting. A shareholder vote to pursue an international listing is not the same as regulatory clearance, final transaction terms or completion.

How much might Dangote Cement raise, and when?

Semafor reported on 5 October 2026 that Dangote Group had pitched London investors in late September, was seeking to raise up to $1 billion and hoped to complete a listing in 2026. The report attributed these expectations to a person familiar with the plans. They are not confirmed offer terms or a guaranteed timetable. Read Semafor’s report.

Earlier reports described a plan to sell about 10% of the company’s shares. That figure, too, is a reported plan rather than a final percentage. The available disclosures do not establish the offer size, percentage to be sold, share class, price, prospectus date or exact listing date.

Would London replace the Lagos listing?

No. The proposal has been described as a secondary London listing, meaning an additional listing rather than a replacement for the company’s existing Nigerian listing. Dangote Cement’s investor-relations page says the company is listed on the Nigerian exchange, and the Nigerian Exchange identifies it under ticker DANGCEM. A July report by Global Cement said Lagos would remain the primary listing; that description is reported, not a final transaction term. Global Cement reported that shareholders at the company’s 2 July 2026 annual general meeting approved pursuing an international listing. That reported mandate supports the company’s ability to pursue the proposal; it does not itself satisfy the further approvals and conditions identified in the May issuer disclosure.

What the company’s size tells investors—and what it does not

Dangote Cement’s investor-relations page reports FY2025 group revenue of ₦4,306,704 million and total capacity of 55.0 million tonnes. Capacity is not the same as actual production. These operating figures provide context about the business, but they do not determine a London share price, valuation or fundraising proceeds. Company investor-relations data.

What investors should watch for next

The key distinction is between the company’s exploratory announcement and the reported investor-pitch details. A firm offer would need to clarify the terms and pass the required approval processes; until then, the reported 2026 target and up-to-$1-billion figure should be treated as expectations, not a completed transaction.

  • A formal company announcement setting out final terms, including the size and structure of the offer.
  • Publication of the relevant listing documents and confirmation of the applicable London listing route.
  • Regulatory and corporate approvals, followed by a definitive timetable.

Dangote Cement’s governance page says the company is not regulated by the UK FCA and follows some UKLA governance practices voluntarily. That statement describes its existing governance framework; it does not establish how the proposed listing would be regulated. Company corporate-governance page.
