Securitize shares (NYSE: SECZ) rose nearly 8% in early trading on October 6, 2026, according to TokenPost, before pulling back. The move followed Securitize’s announcement of an exploratory memorandum of understanding with South Korean technology company LG CNS. The agreement is not a product launch or confirmed source of revenue, and the reported share move has not been independently confirmed here with primary market data.
What Securitize and LG CNS agreed to explore
The October 6 memorandum of understanding (MOU) sets out areas for the companies to investigate together, including tokenized funds and other securities, stablecoins, and digital-asset infrastructure for Korean financial institutions. The announcement also points to possible opportunities elsewhere in Asia-Pacific. Securitize brings experience in regulated tokenization and institutional products; LG CNS brings technology capabilities and relationships in South Korea’s financial sector. Securitize’s announcement does not establish a completed deployment, financial terms, or revenue from the arrangement.
An MOU signals intent to explore cooperation, not proof that a product has been approved, launched, or adopted by customers. For investors, those milestones matter: the announcement describes a potential route into a market, while leaving execution, timing, and commercial results unresolved.
Why South Korea’s policy direction matters
South Korea is preparing a framework for issuing and circulating tokenized securities. On October 1, 2026, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) proposed detailed subordinate rules under a revised legal framework scheduled to take effect on February 4, 2027. The proposal’s consultation period runs from October 2 through November 11, 2026; as of October 7, the proposed rules were still open for comment, not in effect. Proposed coverage includes stocks, bonds, funds, and specified fractional-investment securities. The FSC’s October 1 announcement describes the proposed rules and consultation timetable.

The distinction between the planned framework and the rules under consultation is important. The FSC’s September 4 roadmap says that, once the legal update takes effect, security tokens will be legally recognized as a digitized form of securities. That is the regulator’s description of the framework’s future effective date, not confirmation that every type of tokenized asset can already be issued or traded under the new system. The roadmap also describes a phased infrastructure rollout.
What the initial rollout is expected to cover
The FSC’s roadmap describes three phases involving securities firms and the Korea Securities Depository. The first phase identifies specific starting categories: certain privately pooled institutional money-market funds (MMFs) and bonds, unlisted stocks issued through a trust structure, and publicly offered fractional-investment securities. That staged scope is narrower than a broad claim that all Korean stocks or funds are immediately moving onchain.
What the reported 8% share move does—and does not—show
TokenPost reported that SECZ rose nearly 8% to around $12.60 in early trading on October 6 and later pulled back. That is a secondary-source intraday report, not a verified closing return. The available reporting does not establish the exact close or independently confirm the intraday percentage against primary exchange or market-data records. The timing places the move alongside the MOU announcement, but timing alone does not prove that the agreement caused the rise.
The announcement is one possible item investors may have considered, alongside broader market conditions and expectations for Securitize. It does not show that investors have priced in a future Korean launch, or that the partnership will produce material sales. Treat the reported percentage as an attributed snapshot rather than a confirmed measure of the day’s overall performance.

SECZ shares and tokenized SECZ are different things
Securitize says its common stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SECZ on July 2, 2026. Separately, the company describes a tokenized representation of SECZ as issuer-sponsored and available to eligible U.S. investors through its regulated platform. Those are distinct forms of access; a tokenized representation should not be assumed to be interchangeable with every crypto token or identical in how it is held or accessed to the listed share. Securitize’s listing announcement includes its description of the offering.
In a January 28, 2026 statement, divisions of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission described a tokenized security as a security represented by a crypto asset, with ownership recorded partly or wholly on crypto networks. The statement distinguishes tokens issued by or on behalf of an issuer from those created by unaffiliated third parties. The SEC divisions’ statement provides that framing; it does not make every tokenized asset equivalent to an issuer-sponsored security.
