Certeon’s 2010–2011 partner-program coverage described a minimum 20% margin on qualifying aCelera sales—but only when an approved partner properly registered the opportunity. The reports also described potential margins as high as 40%, deal support and protection, and a tiered program that changed over time. They do not establish that the offer or product is available today.
How the reported 20% guarantee worked
CRN reported that Certeon guaranteed at least a 20% margin on qualified aCelera sales when a qualified partner registered the deal through the company’s partner portal and received approval. It was not an unconditional margin on every sale. The partner could work with Certeon on discounting according to the opportunity’s scope and the services bundled with the product. CRN’s 2011-era account described many partners as potentially earning up to 40%, depending on the sale and partner contribution.
What aCelera was, and what partners received
Certeon marketed aCelera as software-based WAN optimization and application acceleration. Period coverage discussed its use for virtualization, remote access, cloud connectivity and storage replication. Certeon positioned software deployment as a flexible alternative to dedicated appliances; performance and cost comparisons in these accounts were company or interviewee claims, not independent test findings.
The partner portal was described as a working channel resource, not merely a place to register deals. CRN reported opportunity review, lead distribution, marketing materials, on-demand training, and requests for marketing activity or market development funds. It also described deal protection: if a registered opportunity was won by another Certeon reseller, Certeon would provide the registering partner a 10% margin. That remedy was part of the historical report, not evidence of a current policy. CRN

How the program evolved in contemporary reports
The figures below come from reports published at different points in the program’s history; they should not be read as one set of simultaneous or continuing terms.
| Report and period | Reported terms or figures |
|---|---|
| CRN, 2011-era coverage | At least 20% margin on qualified, registered aCelera sales; potential margin up to 40%; 10% margin if another Certeon VAR won a registered deal. Source |
| The ChannelPro Network, September 15, 2010 | Earlier restructured program with Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, two certification levels, free sales and technical training, and a try-and-buy demonstration program. The report said approved registered opportunities received 90-day exclusivity and quoted Certeon executive Karl Soderlund describing margins of 20% to 30%. Source |
| Newswire.com, August 23, 2011 | A company announcement about Pluto Networks joining the program said certified resellers could receive a 20–40% guarantee. This is an announcement republished by a newswire, not independent evidence of realized margins for every partner. Source |
CRN also counted 35 registered U.S. partners in its 2011-era coverage. Of those, 18 were described by the interviewed Certeon executive as allied solution providers. Those are reported program counts, not a measure of partner sales or profitability. CRN

What the quoted enthusiasm does—and does not—show
Certeon sales executive Karl Soderlund told CRN, “Most resellers would say you can’t run a healthy business on single-digit margins.” Versatile Communications CEO John Barker said in an emailed statement, “To have a 20 percent margin guarantee on a sale is simply unheard of in this industry.” These are attributed opinions from the period, not independently established claims about all reseller economics.

There is no basis in the cited reports to treat the guarantee as a current offer. A company profile says Certeon was acquired by Array Networks in 2012, but that secondary profile does not establish the present availability, support, licensing or ownership status of aCelera. Company profile
