Anomali announced on January 17, 2018, that it had closed a $40 million Series D funding round led by Lumia Capital. The company said it would use the investment to expand in the United States and internationally and continue developing its cybersecurity products. The figure is historical: Anomali said the round brought its total investment to $96 million across four rounds as of that announcement.

Who invested in Anomali’s $40 million round?

Lumia Capital led the oversubscribed Series D. Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners (DTCP), Telstra, and Sozo Ventures also participated, alongside returning investors GV, General Catalyst, IVP, and Paladin Capital Group. These details and the cumulative funding figure were reported in Anomali’s January 17, 2018 announcement.

The $96 million total refers to the company’s investment across four rounds as stated on that date; it is not a current lifetime funding total.

What did Anomali say it would do with the funding?

Anomali said the money would support growth in the United States and internationally, as well as continued development of its cybersecurity solutions. CEO Hugh Njemanze said the investment positioned the company for growth in Europe, Japan, and Australia.

Contemporary coverage described the expansion focus somewhat differently. TechCrunch reported that the company intended to target Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, and said Njemanze described the round as having closed the week before the announcement. Those are TechCrunch’s January 17, 2018 account, not a single, identical regional list from the company. TechCrunch’s report also quoted Njemanze saying: “Upon discovery of a new breach type, Anomali can determine in real time if the network has already been attacked.” That was an announcement-era company claim, not independent validation of performance.

What did Anomali’s platform do in 2018?

In its 2018 release, Anomali described software for detecting, investigating, and responding to external threats. The company said its products integrated with internal infrastructure to help identify new attacks and search for past breaches. This was enterprise cybersecurity software, not a consumer product.

Anomali named ThreatStream, Anomali Match, and STAXX among products that had received new capabilities during 2017. It described STAXX as a free tool for collecting and sharing threat intelligence and Anomali Limo as a free, out-of-the-box intelligence feed. These are historical descriptions from the company; they do not establish that either free offering remains available or describe current product terms. The product details appear in Anomali’s 2017 product announcement.

What is Anomali’s current product context?

Anomali’s press room lists a May 5, 2026 launch of ThreatStream Next-Gen and currently presents threat intelligence, SIEM, and XDR capabilities, along with threat intelligence feeds in its marketplace. This later information is separate from the 2018 funding announcement; the press-room listing does not establish detailed specifications, pricing, geographic availability, or comparative performance. What the funding announcement does—and does not—establish

  • It establishes: Anomali announced a $40 million Series D on January 17, 2018, led by Lumia Capital, and said the funding would support expansion and product development.
  • It does not establish: independently verified product efficacy, a market-size estimate, or a current total of the company’s lifetime funding.
  • It is not a product comparison: the announcement does not assess Anomali against competing vendors.
