Good Housekeeping’s 2026 testing names IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye its best overall pick and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser its best value, but those are that publication’s test-based labels—not universal verdicts.
How these concealers were evaluated
Good Housekeeping says its Beauty & Personal Care Lab tested more than 150 concealers, assessing coverage, finish, ease of use, texture, and wear time. Its process combined makeup-artist trials, editor analysis, and consumer tester feedback. The product labels below reflect that publication’s findings where stated; other recommendations are attributed to their respective guides.
The Yahoo Shopping page matching the title could not be accessed, so its purported ten-product selection and testing claims cannot be verified. Rather than invent a definitive top ten or blend rankings from unrelated lists, this guide compares supported recommendations by the jobs they may suit.

What is the best under-eye concealer for dark circles?
Start with the coverage and finish you want, then look for a shade that blends naturally with your complexion or gives the amount of brightness you prefer. A lighter shade can brighten, but going too light may create a visible contrast instead of a seamless match. L’Oréal’s official guidance suggests choosing a complexion match or a slightly lighter shade; that is the brand’s advice rather than a universal rule.
Marie Claire and Who What Wear publish picks for dark-circle concerns, but their recommendations are editorial selections rather than proof that one formula will conceal every circle equally well. The appearance of dark circles and the result of concealer vary by person, shade match, application, and finish.

Choose coverage and finish for the result you want
Light or sheer coverage
Light coverage is a reasonable place to start if you want a subtle result or do not want much product under the eyes. Who What Wear names YSL Touche Éclat in this category. It will not provide the same concealment as a full-coverage formula.
Medium or buildable coverage
Medium coverage offers a middle ground, while a buildable formula lets you add coverage where needed. Who What Wear identifies Merit The Minimalist as medium coverage and Kosas Revealer as buildable. Good Housekeeping describes Maybelline Instant Age Rewind as sheer-to-medium and buildable.

Full coverage
For more concealment, Good Housekeeping describes IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye as full coverage, and Who What Wear includes NARS Soft Matte Complete as a full-coverage option. Coverage alone does not determine whether a product will look smooth: application amount, texture, skin preparation, and finish also matter.
Radiant, natural, or matte finish
Radiant finishes emphasize a fresh, luminous look; natural finishes aim for a less obviously matte or glowing appearance; matte finishes reduce visible shine. These categories describe the intended appearance, not a guarantee of how a formula will look on every person. Skin preparation and the amount applied can affect the result.

Check shade depth and undertone—not just the shade count
A large published shade count does not by itself guarantee a useful match for your depth and undertone. Counts can vary by product version, market, retailer, and time. For example, Good Housekeeping reports 48 shades for IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye and 18 for Maybelline Instant Age Rewind; Marie Claire reports 16 for Maybelline. L’Oréal lists 24 shades on its official U.S. product page. These are source-specific listings, not a single standardized comparison.
When shopping, check the current brand or retailer shade display for your region and product version. Compare undertone descriptions as well as depth, and use swatches or return policies where available. A shade that is too light or has the wrong undertone can stand out even when the formula’s coverage is suitable.

Texture, applicator, and wear matter under the eyes
Concealers come in different formats, including liquid, cream, stick, and pen. Format and applicator affect how much control you have: a built-in applicator can be convenient, while a brush, sponge, or fingertip allows you to pick up and place product separately.
Good Housekeeping notes that some testers found the sponge tip on Maybelline Instant Age Rewind uncomfortable. Its guide also says the tube for IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye can be difficult to squeeze. These practical details may matter as much as a product’s coverage label if you use concealer frequently.
Creasing, settling into fine lines, dryness, and the need for touch-ups are individual wear concerns. Good Housekeeping includes wear time in its evaluation, but the product-specific information available here does not establish a universal wear duration or guarantee that any formula will not crease. - Use a small amount. Dot concealer under the eyes rather than applying a thick layer all at once.
- Blend by tapping. L’Oréal suggests a makeup sponge, concealer brush, or clean fingertips and recommends soft tapping.
- Check the shade in context. L’Oréal suggests a complexion match or a slightly lighter shade for brightening; choose based on the finish you want and how the shade looks against your skin.
Value: compare current price and amount
