A Boeing 737 does not have one universal price. In Ryanair disclosures, the basic price was about US$102.5 million per 737-8200 under a repriced contract and about US$135 million per 737 MAX-10 under a separate contract. Ryanair says its effective prices after Boeing concessions are significantly lower, but it does not disclose those exact net unit prices. These are contract-specific reference points, not guaranteed prices for other buyers or current public list prices.
What do the disclosed 737 prices mean?
The figures are basic prices reported by Ryanair Holdings plc, not the final amounts it says it will pay. Ryanair’s filings distinguish basic price from purchase price after Boeing discounts, credits and other contract terms. The effective price is described as significantly below the basic price, but the exact figure is not public.
| Aircraft and contract | Disclosed basic price | Contract value context | Delivery period |
|---|---|---|---|
| 737-8200; 210-aircraft contract repriced in December 2020 | Approximately US$102.5 million per aircraft, described as a basic price equivalent to a standard list price | Approximately US$9.6 billion for 210 aircraft, net of basic credits and reflecting escalation; effective price after concessions is significantly lower | Fiscal years 2022–2026 |
| 737 MAX-10; 2023 contract for 150 firm aircraft plus 150 options | Approximately US$135 million per aircraft | Approximately US$10.6 billion for the 150 firm aircraft, net of basic credits; effective price after concessions is significantly lower | Scheduled from 2027 through 2033 |
Sources: Ryanair Holdings plc’s 2026 base prospectus, including its disclosures on the 737-8200 contract and 2023 MAX-10 contract. The two contract values should not be divided by aircraft counts and treated as comparable final unit prices: credits, escalation, concessions, delivery timing and contract terms differ.
Why can the price differ from one 737 deal to another?
A purchase price depends on more than the 737 name. The disclosed examples involve different aircraft variants and different contracts; an actual offer would also depend on the buyer’s configuration, delivery schedule and negotiated terms. Credits and price escalation can change the amount represented in a contract, while Boeing concessions reduce Ryanair’s effective price from the disclosed basic-price references.

- Variant: Ryanair’s approximately US$102.5 million figure is for the 737-8200, while its approximately US$135 million figure is for the MAX-10.
- Cabin configuration: Seating and other customer choices affect the aircraft being purchased. Boeing’s typical two-class capacity ranges are 135–160 passengers for the 737-7, 160–180 for the -8, 175–195 for the -9, and 185–210 for the -10; these are configuration-dependent ranges, not fixed seat counts. See Boeing’s 737 MAX family information.
- Contract terms and timing: Delivery dates, credits and escalation are specific to the agreement. The aggregate contract values in Ryanair’s disclosures account for some of these elements differently from the basic unit prices.
- Purchase or lease: A purchase price is not a lease rate. The figures above concern new-aircraft contract disclosures and do not establish monthly leasing costs.
Do these figures tell you what a used 737 or leased 737 costs?
No. They are basic-price references from contracts for new aircraft, not current used-aircraft valuations or lease-rate quotes. No reliable current used 737 price or monthly lease rate is established here, so it would be misleading to infer either from the Ryanair disclosures. Used-aircraft condition, age, maintenance status and configuration would need to be evaluated separately; a lease quotation would require its own terms and delivery assumptions.
What should a buyer ask for in a real quote?
A meaningful comparison needs the exact aircraft and commercial terms rather than a headline price. A prospective airline or aircraft buyer would specify the variant, cabin configuration, delivery period, pricing basis and relevant contract adjustments, then obtain a customer-specific proposal from Boeing or an aircraft-finance market participant.

What is the 737 MAX delivery and certification context?
Timing matters because the disclosed MAX-10 contract is scheduled for deliveries beginning in 2027. Separately, Boeing announced FAA certification of the 737-7 on August 3, 2026; its July 28, 2026 second-quarter update had said certification flight testing for the 737-7 and 737-10 was complete as of July and anticipated first delivery in 2027. The later certification announcement applies to the -7; it does not establish that the -10 was certified. Boeing’s August 3 announcement and July 28 results provide the dated status.
