In its 2020 results announcement, Habib Bank Limited (HBL) said it was then the only bank in Pakistan enabling customers to avail a credit card and personal loan through its app. That supports a historical claim about app-based access, but it does not independently verify that HBL was the first bank to offer the feature. The announcement also does not establish whether customers can apply through HBL Mobile today.
What HBL announced in 2020
HBL’s announcement, titled “HBL’s 2020 Profit Doubles to Rs. 31 Billion with a Focus on Digitalization and Financial Inclusion”, described access to credit-card and personal-loan applications through the bank’s app. HBL said it was the only bank in Pakistan enabling customers to avail both products through its app at that time.
This is HBL’s account of its position, not an independently verified survey of every Pakistani bank. It is reasonable to describe the announcement as a reported early app-based offering; the evidence does not establish the exact market chronology required to prove “first.”
What the Rs. 3.2 billion figure means
HBL reported that Rs. 3.2 billion worth of loans were disbursed using its digital channels in 2020. The announcement does not break that total down by product, so it should not be read as Rs. 3.2 billion in credit-card lending or as a measure of credit-card applications alone.

Can you apply through HBL Mobile now?
The 2020 announcement does not describe application steps or establish that the app-based application route remains available. It also does not state eligibility rules, approval standards, fees, or card terms. If you are considering applying, check directly with HBL for the current application channel and the terms that apply to the specific card.

HBL’s news archive records a separate announcement dated 19 February 2025: eligible HBL Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards could be added to Google Wallet on Android and Wear OS.
