The BARC OCES/DGFS-2026 brochure set out eligibility, exam and selection rules for the 2026 recruitment cycle, but its March–July schedule has passed. BARC’s brochure describes screening through its online exam, a valid applicable GATE score, or both, followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates. The official material cited here does not establish final 2026 cutoffs or confirm final results. Read the official OCES/DGFS-2026 brochure for the cycle’s detailed rules.
BARC OCES/DGFS 2026 notification and current status
The BARC brochure is the official source for the OCES/DGFS-2026 recruitment rules. It labels its schedule tentative and lists the computer-based test in March 2026, interviews as probable during May–June, provisional selection in the last week of June, DGFS admission details in the first week of July, and course commencement on July 31. All those dates have passed. The brochure schedule is not confirmation that each event occurred on those dates; the sources cited here do not confirm later amendments, final results, or actual cutoffs. Check BARC’s officer careers page for official programme information and any later notices.
BARC 2026 selection process
Selection has two stages: screening to shortlist candidates for interview, then a selection interview. Screening may be through the BARC online exam, a valid GATE score in the applicable paper, or both. BARC recommends using both routes to maximize screening opportunities, provided the applicant meets the relevant eligibility rules.
| Screening route | How it works | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| BARC online exam | Register for the discipline-specific computer-based test (CBT); candidates who meet the shortlist criteria may be called for interview. | Applicants may select only one OCES screening discipline. |
| GATE | A valid score in the applicable GATE paper can be used for screening. | The degree and paper must match the brochure’s discipline-specific requirements. |
| Both routes | An eligible applicant may opt for both screening channels. | Choosing GATE alone excludes participation in the BARC CBT. Both routes lead to the same interview-shortlisting stage. |
Final selection is based on interview performance and is subject to medical fitness. Clearing a screening route means a candidate may be considered for an interview; it is not itself a final selection.

OCES and DGFS: what is the difference?
OCES and DGFS are separate pathways, not interchangeable names for the same award. BARC describes OCES as a training-school programme and DGFS as a fellowship scheme connected with postgraduate study at selected institutes. The BARC officer-programme page describes OCES as a one-year programme for engineering graduates and science postgraduates, with coursework, projects and practical training.
| Pathway | Structure | What selection does not guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| OCES | One-year training-school programme, as described on BARC’s general officer-programme page. | The general programme description is not a cycle-specific promise of appointment terms. |
| DGFS | Fellowship associated with applicable postgraduate study at selected institutes, subject to the cycle’s conditions. | Admission to an MTech course alone does not automatically secure a DGFS fellowship; additional programme and admission conditions apply. |
For DGFS, consult the 2026 brochure’s programme and admission conditions rather than assuming that an OCES shortlist or postgraduate offer guarantees fellowship allotment.

OCES/DGFS 2026 eligibility
Eligibility depends on the chosen discipline. The brochure maps degree titles, qualifying requirements, accepted GATE papers and programme options across eight engineering and five science disciplines, and includes exclusions. Use its discipline tables to verify your exact degree and route; a general degree label may not establish eligibility.
Engineering degree and marks requirement
For the listed engineering disciplines, the brochure specifies a BE/BTech/BSc Engineering degree or a five-year integrated MTech in an eligible discipline, with at least 60% aggregate marks or an equivalent 6.0/10 CGPA. Exact accepted degree names and exclusions differ by discipline.

Age and nationality
The brochure requires Indian citizenship and a minimum age of 18 on August 1, 2026. Its stated upper-age limits on that date are 26 years for General, 29 for OBC-NCL and 31 for SC/ST applicants. It also lists additional categories and disability-related relaxations; check the brochure for the terms applying to your category.
Applying with results pending
Applicants awaiting final qualifying-degree results may apply under the brochure’s stated conditions. They must still meet the final academic requirements and submit documents within the specified timelines. The brochure allows an applicant to apply for only one OCES screening discipline, even if eligible for more than one.
Application fee
The 2026 brochure states a ₹500 fee for specified male General/OBC and listed categories, with exemptions for specified groups. This is a past-cycle figure, not a current fee promise; consult a subsequent official notice before relying on it for a later application.

BARC 2026 cutoff and result status
The brochure says the GATE cutoff for interview shortlisting would be finalized after the online exam. It does not provide a final 2026 discipline-wise GATE cutoff in the cited material, and the consulted official sources do not establish CBT shortlisting cutoffs or confirm final results. Treat cutoff tables or result claims without a later official BARC notice as unverified; do not infer a cutoff from the exam pattern or from another year.
