Walmart’s partnership with Zipline is a commercial drone-delivery service first announced in 2020. Walmart later reported Zipline P2 drone sites at two Texas stores, in Mesquite and Waxahachie. That does not mean every Walmart store—or every address near those locations—can receive a Zipline order. Check Walmart’s current ordering channel for your address, eligible items, and any fees before placing an order.
What is the Walmart–Zipline partnership?
Walmart announced its partnership with Zipline on September 14, 2020, describing plans for on-demand U.S. delivery of selected health and wellness products, with potential expansion to general merchandise. Walmart’s announcement also quoted Zipline as saying it had delivered more than 200,000 critical medical products to thousands of health facilities serving more than 20 million people. That figure was historical company-provided context in the 2020 announcement, not a measure of Walmart retail deliveries.
Walmart’s editor’s note dates the on-demand launch to November 18, 2021, from a Walmart Neighborhood Market in Pea Ridge, Arkansas. The store offered selected health, wellness, and consumable items. Walmart’s announcement and launch note document the relationship’s origin and that first retail launch.
Where has Walmart reported Zipline delivery sites?
Named Zipline sites: Mesquite and Waxahachie, Texas
In a June 5, 2025 announcement, Walmart said Zipline had launched its first P2 drone site at Walmart stores in Mesquite and Waxahachie, Texas. These are the two Zipline P2 store locations specifically named in that announcement; the statement is not an address-level coverage map.

Wing is a separate Walmart drone provider
The same 2025 Walmart announcement described a separate Wing expansion covering 100 stores across Atlanta, Charlotte, Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Those locations belong to the Wing program, not the two Zipline P2 sites named in the release. Walmart’s broader drone-delivery activity should not be treated as one Zipline-operated network. Walmart’s 2025 announcement distinguishes the providers and deployments.
How to check whether you can order a Zipline delivery
- Open Walmart’s current official ordering channel, such as its app or website, and enter your delivery address.
- Look for a drone-delivery option or eligible items for that address. Availability can depend on the specific service area and order; a nearby store or a named city alone does not establish eligibility.
- Review the checkout details for the current item selection, delivery terms, and any fee before confirming. The sources available do not establish current address-level coverage, fees, or a live product list.
In January 2024, Walmart said customers in stores offering drone service could order thousands of items, from baby wipes to birthday candles, and described a delivery radius of up to 10 miles. That was Walmart’s description at the time, not a current coverage guarantee for every store, provider, or customer address. Walmart’s 2024 account also cited more than 60 million commercial autonomous miles and more than 13 million vaccine doses for Zipline; those are figures Walmart reported, not independent measurements.

What do the FAA’s DFW figures mean?
On December 23, 2025, the FAA recorded a Finding of No Significant Impact and Record of Decision for Zipline’s proposed commercial package-delivery operations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The FAA summary describes a proposal of up to 75 sites, with up to 20 charging or loading docks per site, using 55-pound P2 “Zip” aircraft. It allows a maximum of 400 delivery flights per operating day from each site, with about 95% proposed between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. and 5% overnight, subject to demand.
Those numbers describe the proposal assessed by the FAA; they are not observed delivery volumes and do not show that every contemplated site has opened. The FAA decision is not a guarantee that a particular address is served. The FAA’s DFW project page provides the regulatory decision and proposed operating parameters.

How to interpret Zipline’s delivery and safety milestones
Company milestones can provide context about Zipline’s operations, but they are not an independent audit of Walmart’s service or a guarantee of local availability.
- Zipline said it reached one million commercial drone deliveries on April 19, 2024. The milestone is Zipline-reported.
- In an April 2026 announcement about a Houston early-access program, Zipline reported 130 million commercial miles, more than 20 million products delivered, and zero crashes, serious injuries, or fatalities over that distance. These are Zipline’s own figures and safety claim, not an independently validated rate. The announcement describes the company’s figures and program.
Zipline’s April 2026 Houston “First Flight” program was described as early access for the first 5,000 eligible Houstonians, with groceries, fresh meals, and retail goods. That company announcement does not establish that every Houston address can order.
