On May 2, 2025, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins announced 50 appointments to state director roles at the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Rural Development (RD), according to a report published by Successful Farming on May 6, 2025. The report lists the appointees by agency and jurisdiction. It documents an announcement made in 2025—not who holds each post today.
What the announcement covers
The 50 appointments span two USDA organizations. FSA state executive directors administer FSA programs through state offices; RD state directors work on rural development. The report gives separate rosters for the two roles, and two RD appointments cover more than one jurisdiction.
Successful Farming’s account is a secondary report of a USDA press release, and it notes that some release statements were edited or condensed. The biographies and policy rationale below are therefore attributed to USDA as relayed in that report, not independently verified. The announcement’s stated purpose does not establish that particular programs or communities experienced any specific outcome.

What the report says about the appointees and policy agenda
Successful Farming describes the group as drawing from farming, government, agency, campaign and legislative work, as well as private-sector roles. Its examples include Sine Kerr’s prior service in the Arizona State Senate, Clark Putman’s earlier FSA service in New York, Travis Burton’s work with the Kentucky Hospital Association and Eric A. Koan’s earlier USDA Rural Development employment. These background details are presented as part of the report’s account of USDA’s release.

The report quotes Rollins framing the appointments as part of President Trump’s “America First” agenda and saying the directors would work toward “putting farmers first again.” That is the administration’s stated policy rationale, not an independent evaluation of the appointees or evidence of subsequent results.

No. The report records appointments announced May 2, 2025, and does not establish whether those appointees remained in office in October 2026 or whether later departures and replacements occurred. Treat it as a historical announcement roster, not a current staffing directory. For present-day officeholders, check USDA’s current agency officeholder pages or a later official announcement.
