Recent filings put a 777-9 benchmark at about US$530 million per aircraft, calculated from a ten-aircraft order, and disclose US$408.729 million as the list price for one remaining 777 Freighter in a specific China Airlines programme. Neither figure establishes what airlines generally paid in 2025.
Recent Boeing 777 price disclosures
| Aircraft and source | Disclosed amount | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| 777-9 — China Airlines, 2025 annual report on a 2024 board-approved order | US$5.3 billion for 10 aircraft; US$530 million per aircraft by calculation | The ten-aircraft aggregate list price divided by ten. US$530 million is an implied average list price, not a separately quoted individual contract price. China Airlines 2024 annual financial report |
| 777 Freighter — China Airlines, Q1 2025 filing | US$408.729 million | The list price reported for the remaining aircraft in a ten-aircraft programme. Nine of the ten had been delivered as of March 31, 2025. It is a programme-specific disclosure, not a universal 777 Freighter price. China Airlines Q1 2025 consolidated financial statements |
| 777-9 — IAG, 2019 regulatory announcement | Approximately US$442.2 million | A historical list-price reference from 2019, not a 2025 quote. IAG/CNMV 2019 announcement |
Why “Boeing 777” does not have one price
The 777 is a family of aircraft, not one identical product. The 777-9 is a passenger model, while the 777 Freighter is a cargo aircraft; their disclosures should not be treated as prices for interchangeable versions of the same plane. Boeing’s product information presents the family by model and design. Boeing 777 design highlights
List price is not necessarily the price paid
The figures above are described in the filings as list prices. They do not disclose the final negotiated amounts airlines paid, and they do not establish a market-wide average transaction price for 2025. Treat the US$530 million 777-9 figure as arithmetic based on a reported order total, and the US$408.729 million freighter figure as specific to China Airlines’ remaining aircraft in its programme—not as a standard price available to every buyer.
Were 777-9s being delivered in 2025?
No. Boeing’s Q4 2025 results said it then anticipated the first 777-9 delivery in 2027. The China Airlines order disclosure therefore shows a purchase commitment and listed amount, not a 777-9 delivery that had already taken place in 2025. Boeing Q4 2025 results

What these numbers can—and cannot—tell you
- For a recent public 777-9 benchmark: use about US$530 million per aircraft, explicitly described as the calculated per-plane share of China Airlines’ ten-aircraft list-price total.
- For the 777 Freighter: China Airlines reported US$408.729 million for the remaining aircraft in its programme in its Q1 2025 filing.
- For actual acquisition cost or a used 777’s value: these disclosures do not provide a general 2025 answer. They do not establish negotiated transaction prices or a current used-aircraft market value.
