What happened to the R2 launch after the layoffs?
When TechCrunch reported the September cuts, Rivian was preparing for an R2 launch in 2026. On April 22, 2026, the company said customer production had officially started at its Normal, Illinois, plant, with first customer deliveries expected later that spring.
