CBSE’s 2025 recruitment application window is closed. Applications for 142 Superintendent and 70 Junior Assistant posts were accepted from January 2 through January 31, 2025. The exams took place on April 20, 2025, and CBSE later published cut-offs and notices covering skill tests, results and candidature actions. Applicants should check CBSE’s recruitment archive for the latest notice.

What CBSE advertised

The Central Board of Secondary Education’s December 31, 2024 detailed advertisement invited applications for direct recruitment through an All India Competitive Examination. It listed 142 Superintendent posts (Group B, Pay Level 6) and 70 Junior Assistant posts (Group C, Pay Level 2), or 212 advertised vacancies in total. CBSE said the vacancy figures were provisional and could change according to its actual requirements. Selected candidates could be posted to any CBSE office; a particular headquarters or regional-office posting was not guaranteed. CBSE detailed advertisement

How the two posts differed

Post Vacancies advertised Minimum education Upper age limit Pay level Selection route
Superintendent 142 Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent, plus working knowledge of computers and applications 30 years Level 6 Tier I screening, Tier II written examination, then qualifying skill test
Junior Assistant 70 Class 12 or equivalent 27 years Level 2 Tier I MCQ examination, then qualifying skill test

Both posts had a minimum age of 18 as of the application closing date and required a qualifying computer typing speed of 35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi. Category-based age relaxations applied under the notice; they depended on the applicable category, documentation and stated cut-off date. Candidates had to possess the required qualifications when applying, so those awaiting final examination results were told not to apply. CBSE detailed advertisement

Application dates and fee

Online registration ran from January 2 to January 31, 2025, with January 31 also serving as the date for determining eligibility. That application period has ended. The fee was ₹800 for each post applied to by Unreserved, OBC and EWS candidates. The listed SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen, women and departmental candidates paid no fee. Payment was online; CBSE stated that fees once paid would not be refunded or adjusted. CBSE detailed advertisement

Examination and selection stages

CBSE scheduled both exams for April 20, 2025, in offline OMR mode: Junior Assistant in the morning and Superintendent in the afternoon. For Superintendent, Tier I was a screening stage only; its marks did not count toward selection. The next stage was Tier II, with objective OMR and descriptive components, followed by a qualifying skill test. Junior Assistant candidates took Tier I MCQs and then a qualifying skill test. The advertised typing-speed requirement applied to both posts. CBSE exam schedule notice CBSE detailed advertisement

Cut-offs and later recruitment notices

CBSE’s May 13, 2025 notice published post- and category-specific cut-off marks. It recorded 232 for Junior Assistant General and 202 for Junior Assistant EWS; for Superintendent, it recorded 316 for General and 300 for EWS. These are cut-offs for the 2025 recruitment process, not general eligibility thresholds. CBSE cut-off notice

In September 2025, CBSE announced that shortlisted Superintendent candidates would take a qualifying typing test in Delhi from September 24 to 26. Its recruitment archive subsequently listed results and candidature-action notices for these posts, with notices continuing through 2026. Because the archive is updated over time, candidates should consult its current entries for any post-specific status or instruction. CBSE Superintendent skill-test notice CBSE recruitment archive

Where to check official updates

CBSE’s February 24, 2025 schedule notice advised candidates to visit the CBSE official website for further information and latest updates. For this completed recruitment cycle, use the relevant entries in CBSE’s recruitment archive rather than treating the January 2025 application notice as current.
