NVIDIA makes most of its money selling data-center computing and networking products: in the quarter ended July 26, 2026, Data Center brought in $89.0 billion of the company’s $96.2 billion in revenue. Its offer is broader than standalone AI chips: it includes processors, networking, integrated systems, and software-enabled solutions. NVIDIA does not report software as a separate revenue line in the quarterly filing discussed here.
Where NVIDIA’s revenue comes from
NVIDIA reported $96.2 billion in revenue for its second quarter of fiscal 2027, up 106% year over year. The figures below are for the three months ended July 26, 2026, and follow the market-platform presentation in NVIDIA’s Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q.
| Market platform | Q2 FY2027 revenue | Year-over-year change | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Data Center | $89.0 billion | Up 117% | Hyperscale and AI Clouds, Industrial, & Enterprise (ACIE) |
| — Hyperscale | $48.7 billion | Not stated separately here | Public clouds and the world’s largest consumer internet companies |
| — ACIE | $40.3 billion | Not stated separately here | AI clouds, industrial customers, and enterprise customers |
| Edge Computing | $7.2 billion | Not stated separately here | Devices and applications that process data at the edge, including PCs, game consoles, workstations, AI-RAN base stations, robotics, and automotive |
The two Data Center submarkets add to the Data Center total, and Data Center plus Edge Computing add to reported quarterly revenue. Calculated from NVIDIA’s reported figures, Data Center accounted for about 92.5% of revenue in the quarter; this is a share of revenue, not profit. NVIDIA reported a 75.0% gross margin and attributed its year-over-year improvement to a better mix from Blackwell Ultra. Gross margin is not the same as operating or net profit.

What customers pay NVIDIA for
AI chips and accelerated computing
Graphics processing units (GPUs) and related processors are central to NVIDIA’s data-center offer. They provide computing capacity used to train and run AI models and other demanding workloads. NVIDIA groups its Data Center accelerated computing, networking, AI solutions, and software within its Compute & Networking operating segment.
Networking and integrated systems
Customers can buy more than an individual processor. NVIDIA also sells networking and interconnect technology and integrated data-center systems that combine computing components. In Q2 FY2027, Blackwell made up the majority of NVIDIA’s system shipments, and the company attributed Data Center growth to the ramp of Blackwell Ultra infrastructure. NVIDIA said it is shipping both Blackwell and Rubin systems; the filing does not make Rubin the quarter’s primary growth driver.
A smaller-scale example is DGX Spark, a compact personal AI supercomputer that NVIDIA said began shipping in its FY2026 Q3 announcement. It illustrates how the company packages compute into a system, but it is not identified as a major source of the quarterly revenue shown above.

Software-enabled solutions
Software is part of NVIDIA’s platform and is included in the filing’s descriptions of AI solutions and software. That does not mean the reported figures show how much customers paid for software alone: NVIDIA’s reviewed quarterly disclosure does not provide a standalone software revenue figure. It is more accurate to describe software as part of the broader platform than to treat it as a separately quantified revenue engine.

NVIDIA also sells GeForce GPUs for gaming and PCs and Quadro/NVIDIA RTX GPUs for enterprise workstation graphics. These products sit within the Graphics operating segment. PCs, game consoles, workstations, robotics, and automotive also fall within the company’s Edge Computing market-platform definition. These are different ways to classify activity, not separate amounts that can be added together.
How the sales reach customers
NVIDIA’s direct customers and sales channels include cloud providers, AI clouds, model developers, enterprises, public-sector customers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, and system integrators. In one disclosed arrangement, selected AI cloud partners buy NVIDIA data-center infrastructure and then offer cloud services to third parties. The partner serves those users; NVIDIA sells infrastructure into that ecosystem.

This channel also creates customer concentration. NVIDIA reported that one direct customer represented 16% of total revenue in Q2 FY2027, primarily attributable to Compute & Networking. The filing also describes revenue as concentrated among a limited number of direct and indirect customers, so the large total does not mean sales are evenly spread across buyers.
Why two NVIDIA reporting views should not be mixed
NVIDIA reports revenue using both market platforms and operating segments. They answer different questions and are not parallel slices of the same total.

NVIDIA changed its market-platform presentation beginning in Q1 FY2027 and recast comparable periods. In Q2 FY2027 it also reclassified a company from ACIE to Hyperscale and recast affected comparative figures. Comparisons between those Data Center submarkets should therefore use the latest recast figures rather than older presentations.

What the AI-cloud commitments could mean later
As of July 26, 2026, NVIDIA disclosed $36 billion in commitments under agreements with select AI cloud partners, typically six years in duration. These commitments are not the same as revenue already recognized from customers. If specified criteria are met, NVIDIA may participate in revenue generated by those partners in the future. The agreements can also be stopped by the AI clouds, so any revenue share is conditional rather than guaranteed.
What could affect future revenue
- Supply and demand: NVIDIA reported supply constraints and warned that demand estimates may be inaccurate, which can create volatility in revenue or supply levels.
- Product transitions: Blackwell Ultra infrastructure drove the Data Center growth cited for the quarter, while NVIDIA also said it is shipping Rubin systems. The mix of products shipped can affect reported results.
- Customer concentration: A large portion of sales depends on a limited number of direct and indirect customers, as reflected in the 16% direct-customer share disclosed for the quarter.
- Partner execution: Potential future revenue sharing depends on specified conditions and on AI-cloud partners continuing their agreements and services.
In the August 26, 2026 earnings release, CEO Jensen Huang characterized the demand thesis this way: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue,” This is management’s description of the opportunity, not an independently verified forecast.
