Voyager Capital announced a $100 million fundraising target for its sixth fund in September 2023, with a reported $125 million hard cap. Those figures describe the target and maximum offering—not the amount ultimately raised. A September 2023 SEC filing showed no sales had occurred as of its filing date, and the sources reviewed do not establish Fund VI’s final size or closing date.

How much was Voyager Capital seeking for Fund VI?

GeekWire reported in 2023 that Voyager was targeting $100 million for Fund VI and that the fund had a $125 million hard cap, citing confirmation from managing director Diane Fraiman. The target was the fundraising goal; the cap was the reported upper limit. Neither figure establishes what investors ultimately committed.

A separate SEC Form D filed for Voyager Capital Fund VI, L.P. on September 20, 2023, listed a $125 million total offering amount. The filing reported $0 sold and checked “First Sale Yet to Occur.” That is the offering’s reported status on the filing date, not a current fundraising update. The SEC also cautions that it has not necessarily reviewed the notice or determined its accuracy or completeness. SEC Form D

Has Fund VI closed, and how much did it raise?

The available sources do not confirm Fund VI’s final amount or closing date. Voyager’s current website describes the firm and reports its assets under management, but does not establish the fund’s final size or whether it has closed. It would be inaccurate to present the $125 million offering amount as capital raised or to treat the September 2023 filing as evidence of the fund’s status today.

What does Voyager Capital invest in?

Voyager describes its current focus as early-stage B2B companies in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada, particularly businesses involving:

  • AI-driven business solutions
  • Software-driven hardware
  • Sustainable agriculture
  • Supply chain

This is Voyager’s present firm-level strategy description; it should not be mistaken for a confirmed list of Fund VI investments. In 2023, GeekWire described Voyager’s focus as SaaS, cloud infrastructure, AI and machine learning, and named Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Alberta as its regional focus. These are descriptions from different dates, not a single timeless mandate.

How does the target compare with Voyager’s earlier funds?

GeekWire reported that Voyager raised $100 million for Fund V in 2019, following a $50 million fund in 2013. Those historical figures provide context for the Fund VI target, but the available reporting does not support a like-for-like comparison of final fund sizes or investment performance.

For scale, GeekWire reported in 2023 that Voyager had more than $520 million in assets under management and had backed more than 75 companies. Voyager’s current website reports over $565 million under management. These are separate statements by the company and a publisher at different times, not an audited time series or evidence of Fund VI’s proceeds.

What companies has Voyager backed?

GeekWire’s 2023 article named Carbon Robotics, Treasury4, WellSaid Labs, Hiya and Syndio among Voyager’s active portfolio companies. It also cited Zipwhip, acquired by Twilio in 2021, and Yapta, acquired by Coupa Software in 2020, as exits. These are examples from that article, not a complete or necessarily current portfolio list.
