What did Gartner say about scaling AI and analytics?
The event’s central management question was how to move beyond isolated AI experiments and make data and analytics work contribute to organizational goals. Gartner’s conference coverage said 49% of organizations identified demonstrating AI’s value as a top barrier. It also reported that over half of organizations had issues with their data. Gartner did not present those statements here as measurements of any particular industry or as current 2026 figures.

Herschel described the expanding reach of the discipline: “D&A is going from the domain of the few, to ubiquity.” He also said leaders faced pressure “not to do more with less, but to do a lot more with a lot more,” as the stakes rose. Those observations appeared in Gartner’s March 5, 2025 announcement of data and analytics trends. Gartner’s 2025 trend announcement
Why were trust and business outcomes recurring themes?
Gartner’s 2025 takeaways connected data and AI initiatives to the business decisions and results they are meant to improve. In the analytics and AI challenges session, Schlegel’s guidance was to “Tie data pain points and opportunities to organizational goals by pinpointing what is inhibiting data-driven decision making and determining its downstream impact on business outcomes.”

That framing implies a practical sequence for leaders: identify mission-critical priorities, show how proposed work affects goals and metrics, and make responsibilities clear across business and IT. Gartner also emphasized choosing trust models appropriate to context; trust in data or AI is not a substitute for specifying who owns a decision, what evidence supports it, and how risks are handled. These are Gartner’s perspectives from the 2025 event, rather than universal findings. Gartner’s conference highlights
What was Gartner’s decision-intelligence forecast?
Gartner’s Orlando coverage forecast that “By 2026, 75% of global enterprises will apply decision intelligence, making augmented and automated decision making the next competitive differentiator.” This was a forward-looking forecast published in 2025, not confirmation that the figure was reached in 2026. The trend announcement also urged organizations to evaluate decision-intelligence practices and platforms while considering ethical, legal and compliance issues in decision automation. What should readers take from the 2025 event?
The summit’s message was less about adopting AI for its own sake than about building the data foundations, governance and organizational accountability needed to make AI and analytics useful. For anyone comparing conferences, the relevant dimensions are audience, topic coverage, session format and geography; the available Gartner announcements do not establish comparative event quality or attendee outcomes.
