Costco Same-Day Delivery brings eligible groceries to your address through Instacart. It is available to Costco members in many, but not all, metropolitan areas; requires a $35 minimum order; and uses item prices higher than local warehouse prices to cover Instacart service and delivery costs. Check your ZIP code and live cart before deciding whether delivery fits your budget.
How Costco Same-Day Delivery works
- Check your address: Sign in as a Costco member and open Costco Same Day. Enter your ZIP code or delivery address to see whether service is available and which items can be ordered there.
- Shop the local selection: Add eligible groceries to the Same-Day cart. The Same-Day cart is separate from your Costco.com cart, so each must be checked out separately.
- Meet the minimum and check out: The order minimum is $35. Choose an offered delivery window and place the order for one delivery address.
- Coordinate with the shopper: An Instacart shopper picks the order. If an item is unavailable, the shopper may text or call about a substitute or refund for that item.
- Receive the delivery: Costco says delivery may be available the same day, the next day, or on a chosen day, depending on the options shown. Its Same-Day page describes a two-hour delivery window. Weather and local or regional events can affect timing.
Costco says the customer must be present for delivery. Contactless delivery is available except when the order includes alcohol or prescription items, which require recipient ID verification. See Costco’s grocery delivery overview for its description of the shopper and delivery process.
What does Costco Same-Day Delivery cost?
Minimum order and item prices
Costco’s Same-Day FAQ and service page state a $35 minimum order. Costco also says Same-Day item prices are higher than local warehouse prices to cover service and delivery costs charged by Instacart. Costco does not give one universal standalone delivery-fee amount on its service page, so do not assume a fixed fee applies to every order. Compare the prices in your live Same-Day cart with warehouse prices and review the total at checkout.
Instacart+ pricing and Costco rewards
Costco says Instacart+ membership is honored for Same-Day orders and that Instacart+ members receive lower item prices than customers without Instacart+. The amount of any difference depends on the prices displayed to you.

Why a pending card charge may exceed the final total
Instacart may place a temporary authorization hold with a buffer for possible additions or substitutions. Costco says the final charge is for the items picked, and canceled out-of-stock items are not included. A pending hold may remain for a day or two before it clears or adjusts.

What groceries can you order?
Costco describes Same-Day as a grocery service and lists roughly 2,000 eligible grocery items on its service page. That is Costco’s service-page figure, not a guaranteed count for every ZIP code: the available assortment depends on location. Costco’s grocery overview names fresh and perishable options such as organic meats, produce, and seafood, but a category or particular item may not be available in every area. The products shown after you enter your address are the best guide to what you can order.
Where is Same-Day available, and who can use it?
Costco says Same-Day is available to members in most metropolitan areas, with coverage dependent on ZIP code. It is not a nationwide guarantee. Costco Same-Day is for members; nonmembers can place orders through Instacart.com, but that is a different shopping path and may have higher prices.

If Costco Same-Day does not serve your address, Costco points customers to its 2-Day grocery option for eligible products. Check the address-specific listing rather than assuming that a nearby warehouse means delivery is available.
Same-Day or 2-Day grocery delivery?
The options differ in what they deliver, how they arrive, and the charges Costco states. Which costs less depends on your basket and address, so compare the live total rather than assuming one option is always cheaper.

Costco.com and Same-Day have separate carts and checkouts. If an item is missing, damaged, spoiled, or otherwise unusable, Costco says to request a refund within seven days of delivery. Costco says Instacart processes refunds immediately, but the credit may take five to ten business days to appear, depending on the bank. Costco also says customers may return items to a warehouse for a full and immediate refund.
