What RRB CEN 03/2024 covered
The Ministry of Railways issued Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 03/2024 for technical and research-supervisor posts under the Railway Recruitment Boards. The notice listed 7,934 vacancies across JE, DMS and CMA, plus 17 Chemical Supervisor (Research) and Metallurgical Supervisor (Research) vacancies, identified for RRB Gorakhpur only. These are the vacancy counts in the 2024 notice; they do not establish how many positions were ultimately filled. Read the official CEN 03/2024 notice.
Vacancies, pay levels and exam groups
The notice separated the positions into two groups with different pay levels and examination arrangements.

Pay figures are the initial-pay amounts stated in the original notice, not estimates of take-home salary or current pay guidance. The notice says candidates with qualifications matching different exam groups could select one group consistent with their chosen posts; candidates selecting Level 7 posts had to take the Chemical and Metallurgical Supervisor exam group.

Application dates and correction window

The notice stated: “Applications, complete in all respects, must be submitted ONLINE ONLY latest by 23:59 hours of 29.08.2024.” The correction window did not allow candidates to change their account-creation details or chosen RRB.
Could candidates apply to more than one RRB?
No. The notice required one common online application through only one RRB. The chosen RRB was final, and applications submitted to more than one RRB would be rejected. That restriction also explains why the RRB choice could not be changed in the correction window.
Age and qualification requirements
The notice set the age range at 18–36 years as of 1 January 2025. It included a one-time three-year relaxation beyond the prescribed upper age limit due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Candidates needed to possess the required educational and technical qualifications by the application closing date; candidates awaiting final results were not eligible.
Exact education, technical and medical standards varied by post. Candidates assessing a particular post should use Annexure A of the original CEN 03/2024 notice, rather than assuming that a general engineering or science qualification applied across all categories.

What is the status of the recruitment?
The application window ended in August 2024. Official RRB listings show that the process continued into 2025: RRB Kolkata lists a document-verification call-letter notice dated 28 July 2025 and an appeal-related medical-board notice dated 25 November 2025. Those notices confirm later-stage activity, but do not establish the final outcome for every post or whether every vacancy was filled.
