These rates and eligibility terms were announced by PlayStation for its 2024 Black Friday promotion. The upgrade offers applied to the remaining subscription period; they were not equivalent to a discounted new 12-month plan.
What PlayStation offered in 2025
In 2025, PlayStation said eligible players in participating countries could save up to 33% on a new 12-month membership. Existing members could save 33% on the remaining membership period when upgrading from Essential or Extra to Premium or Deluxe. The Southeast Asia announcement named a different rate for Thailand: up to 30%, compared with up to 33% for eligible joiners and upgrades in the other markets covered by that offer. Country-specific terms matter; a rate announced for one market should not be assumed to apply elsewhere. PlayStation’s Southeast Asia post gives the regional qualification.
Does the discount apply to current members or renewals?
Not automatically. The cited announcements describe new 12-month memberships and specified tier upgrades. They do not establish a universal Black Friday discount on ordinary renewals for all active members. A subscriber considering an upgrade should check whether their account and current tier qualify, and whether the offer is calculated against the time left on their subscription.

How to check whether an offer saves you money
- Confirm your country and seller. Check the official PlayStation offer for your market and note any retailer-specific conditions.
- Identify the transaction. Determine whether the price is for a new 12-month plan, an upgrade using your remaining subscription time, or a renewal. Do not compare those bases as if they were the same deal.
- Check the exact plan and checkout price. Verify the tier, term, eligibility, and final amount shown before purchasing. A percentage advertised as “up to” is a maximum, not a guaranteed saving for every customer.
- Review renewal terms. PlayStation described PS Plus in its 2025 announcement as an ongoing subscription that renews automatically at the then-current PlayStation Store price until canceled. Check the renewal setting and price at checkout if you do not want the subscription to continue at that rate.
Is there a confirmed 2026 Black Friday PS Plus deal?
No 2026 Black Friday rate or promotion date is established by the official announcements cited here. PlayStation’s May 2026 Japan Days of Play offer is a separate promotion, not evidence of Black Friday terms: it listed 20% off new 12-month Essential memberships, 25% off Extra, and 33% off Premium in Japan. Those figures apply to that event and market only. PlayStation’s Japan Days of Play announcement identifies the offer.
When a Black Friday offer is announced, use the official local PlayStation page and the checkout screen to confirm its dates, eligibility, price, and renewal conditions. Past percentages can help explain earlier promotions, but they do not guarantee a future discount.
