Is the Rogers class action lawsuit real?
Yes. The Quebec Superior Court authorized the case on February 20, 2024. The case is listed in the Quebec Registry of Class Actions as docket 500-06-001144-217 at the Montréal courthouse. Check the official registry entry for the docket and filed documents.
Authorization is a procedural decision allowing the class action to proceed. It does not decide whether the defendants were legally at fault, determine who is entitled to relief, or set compensation amounts. Those issues remain unresolved in the materials available for this case.
What does the January 2026 stay mean?
The Quebec Registry of Class Actions lists a judgment granting an application for a stay dated January 23, 2026. The registry overview does not state why the stay was granted, how long it lasts, or what steps are affected. It therefore does not establish a trial date or a current case schedule.

For the stay’s practical effect, consult the judgment and other current docket documents in the official registry, or ask a qualified lawyer. The registry summary alone is not enough to say whether a particular class member must take action now.
Am I included in the Rogers, Fido or Chatr class action?
The published class description covers consumers in Canada who had or were using an existing Rogers, Rogers for Business, Fido, or Chatr account, wireless line, or contract, and whose services were interrupted on or about April 19, 2021. This is the class description in the class notice; it does not establish that every customer of those brands was affected or is automatically entitled to compensation.

The October 2025 notice said class members had nothing to pay. It listed November 23, 2025 as the deadline to exclude yourself, and that date has passed. The registry overview does not establish a new exclusion deadline or a current process for filing compensation claims. Check the latest official notice and docket documents if you need to confirm your status or available steps.
What happened in the April 19, 2021 Rogers outage?
The action concerns the wireless interruption on or about April 19, 2021—not the separate Rogers outage in July 2022. MobileSyrup reported that the 2021 interruption affected wireless calls, SMS and data, and that Rogers restored service to most customers the following day. MobileSyrup’s October 22, 2025 report quoted a Rogers spokesperson as saying: “We’re continually investing to bring Canadians the best network experience. We have already credited our customers and look forward to defending the case.” That is Rogers’ position, not a court finding.

What is the lawsuit asking the court to decide?
The class notice says the action alleges that members suffered damages because of the interruption. It identifies questions for the court, not conclusions already reached:
- Whether the Rogers entities or Fido committed a fault in relation to cellular service around April 19, 2021.
- Whether additional service or subscription fees are owed beyond credits already applied.
- Whether compensatory, moral, or punitive damages are payable, and in what amounts.
The notice does not establish that any of these forms of relief will be awarded. Neither the authorization nor the registry’s stay entry is a ruling on liability or damages.
