Asymmetric Security Launches With $4.2 Million in Pre-Seed Funding

Asymmetric Security announced its public launch on May 29, 2026, alongside a $4.2 million pre-seed round led by Susa Ventures. The company is building AI-native digital forensics and incident response (DFIR) services: tools intended to help security teams gather and analyze evidence during cyberattacks, with human responders making decisions on complex or high-risk cases.

What is Asymmetric Security?

Asymmetric Security is a cybersecurity company focused on digital forensics and incident response, or DFIR. Its founders describe the business as “the first full-stack AI Digital Forensics and Incident Response (DFIR) company.” That is the company’s characterization, not an independently established industry ranking. In its May 29, 2026 launch announcement, the founders said the company aims to use AI to investigate attacks more deeply and at greater scale.

DFIR work involves collecting and examining evidence after a security incident to understand what happened, how an attacker gained access, and what may have been affected. Asymmetric’s stated premise is that automated forensic investigation can become more common. Its company page says that automated digital forensics “will become ubiquitous”; this is a prediction about the direction of cybersecurity, not a demonstrated outcome. The company’s positioning page does not establish how quickly that change will happen.

What does the company’s platform do?

SecurityWeek’s report on the company describes a platform that collects forensic artifacts from email, identity, and cloud applications, analyzes them to help determine how an attack unfolded, and presents findings to human responders. Those responders are intended to handle decisions involving edge cases and risk.

This describes a human-in-the-loop approach rather than a claim that an AI system autonomously resolves every incident. The available reporting does not specify the product’s integrations, deployment model, pricing, service-level terms, or independent performance results, so prospective enterprise buyers would need to confirm those details directly.

How much did Asymmetric Security raise, and who invested?

The company announced $4.2 million in pre-seed funding, led by Chad Byers at Susa Ventures. Its announcement also named Halcyon Ventures, Overlook Ventures, Seldon Lab, Matt Clifford, Geoff Ralston, Charlie Songhurst, and AI and security leaders from Anthropic and Google DeepMind as participants. Individual investment amounts were not disclosed. The funding details come from the founders’ May 29, 2026 announcement.

What is known about the founders’ experience?

The launch post names Alexis Carlier, Zainab Ali Majid, and Pippa Thompson as founders and authors. They said they had responded to “hundreds” of cyberattacks using internally developed AI systems. That figure is the founders’ account; it has not been independently audited in the cited coverage.

The founders also said they want to turn incident-response experience into realistic training scenarios and evaluations, with the goal of improving their own AI cyberdefense systems and those of frontier AI labs. That is a stated objective, not evidence that the work has already improved systems or produced measured security gains.

What is established—and what remains unclear?

  • Established by the company’s announcement: its stated launch date, the $4.2 million pre-seed round, the lead investor and named participants, and the founders’ description of their mission.
  • Reported by SecurityWeek: a workflow involving evidence collection across email, identity, and cloud applications, followed by analysis and human review. The outlet also reported that the company was founded in 2025 and had offices in London and San Francisco; those details are attributed to its report, rather than confirmed in the surfaced company announcement.
  • Not established in the cited material: customer names, commercial availability, pricing, independently validated performance, and customer outcomes. The sources also do not provide comparable test results against manual investigations or other DFIR offerings.

There is a date discrepancy in the public coverage: SecurityWeek’s funding report is dated January 21, 2026 and describes the company emerging from stealth, while the company’s own launch announcement is dated May 29, 2026. The company’s post is the primary source for its stated launch date; the two dates should not be treated as one announcement date.

Asymmetric’s newsroom later listed posts dated July 31, 2026, about its agentic DFIR work being featured in a Google DeepMind agent security paper, and August 7, 2026, about supply-chain attacks. Those listings show later public activity, but do not by themselves demonstrate customer adoption or proven product performance.
