Costco Executive membership offers two notable benefits beyond its 2% reward: earlier warehouse shopping hours and a $10 monthly credit toward one qualifying same-day delivery order. They took effect June 30, 2025—not in 2026. Whether they make upgrading worthwhile depends on your eligible Costco spending, whether you can use the delivery credits without buying extra, and whether the earlier hours fit your schedule.
What are the two Executive Membership perks?
Costco’s current U.S. membership page lists both benefits for Executive members. The company’s terms say they became effective June 30, 2025. Costco’s membership benefits page and its SameDay FAQ provide the current operational details.
Earlier warehouse shopping hours
Costco lists Executive shopping hours as 9 a.m.–10 a.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–9:30 a.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m.–10 a.m. Sunday. These are published hours, not a guarantee that every local warehouse follows the same schedule; check your warehouse’s posted hours before visiting.
$10 monthly same-day delivery credit
Executive members can receive $10 off one qualifying order of $150 or more through Costco SameDay or Costco via Instacart, provided the Executive membership is linked to the eligible account. The credit applies to eligible products, not taxes, delivery or service fees, tips, or other listed fees.

SameDay is not available in every region. Costco says credits are applied monthly and expire at the end of the month; unused credits do not roll over. The order minimum has alcohol and prescription-related exclusions, and one qualifying transaction is required. Check the Costco SameDay FAQ for current terms.
How much more does Executive cost?
As listed on Costco’s U.S. membership page on October 4, 2026, Gold Star costs $65 per year and Executive costs $130 per year, plus applicable tax—a $65 annual difference. Fees and terms can change, so verify the live page before joining or renewing.

Executive also includes a 2% reward on eligible purchases, subject to exclusions and a $1,250 cap. That reward is separate from the monthly delivery credit: it depends on qualifying spend, while the credit requires a qualifying order and local service availability.
How to work out whether the upgrade pays off
Start with eligible annual spending
At a simple 2% rate, $3,250 in qualifying purchases produces $65 in rewards—the listed annual price difference. This is arithmetic, not a guarantee: only eligible purchases count, and Costco’s reward terms and exclusions apply. If your qualifying spend is below that level, the rewards alone may not offset the fee difference.

Count only delivery credits you would genuinely use
A credit is not automatically $10 saved. Count it only for a month when you would place an eligible order of at least $150 anyway, the service is available to you, and your Executive membership is linked correctly. Since each month’s credit expires rather than carrying forward, do not treat all 12 credits as guaranteed annual savings.
Put a personal value on early access
Early hours have value if you can shop then and prefer that schedule. If you usually cannot arrive during the posted window, or your local warehouse’s schedule does not suit you, this perk may contribute little to your decision.

For a grounded decision, estimate your eligible annual spend, identify how many monthly delivery credits you can use without spending more than planned, and decide whether early access changes when you shop. The benefits do not make the upgrade automatically worthwhile for a member who cannot use delivery, seldom shops early, and earns too little in eligible rewards to cover the added fee.
