Ipswich is backed by a group of investors, not one wealthy individual. The often-cited £350 million figure is a reported valuation of the club in connection with an ownership change—not the owners’ personal fortune.
Who owns Ipswich Town?
Gamechanger 20 Ltd remains the named owner of Ipswich Town. In a report dated 3 December 2025, BBC Sport said Portman Holdings LLC had become the majority shareholder in the ownership structure. The restructure brought fresh investment from the Three Lions fund and Clara Vista Partners under the Portman Holdings banner, while ORG remained involved. Ed Sheeran retained a 1.4% minority stake.
Gamechanger 20 was established in April 2021 by US investment fund ORG to buy a 90% stake in the club from Marcus Evans, according to the same BBC report. That history and the later restructure describe an investment group; they do not identify a single person whose personal wealth represents the whole ownership.
Why an older ownership breakdown should not be treated as current
A 2025 report by Norton Rose Fulbright recorded an earlier voting-power breakdown: ORG Portfolio Management LLC at 74.37%, Three Lions Ipswich LP at 24.79% and Ipswich Town PLC at 0.84%. Those percentages predate the December 2025 restructure and should not be read as the current post-restructure split. The report is available at Norton Rose Fulbright.
What is Ipswich Town worth?
Reports have attached several different values to Ipswich, each with a different basis or date. None is a measure of what the owners are personally worth.

| Figure | What it refers to | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| £350 million | Reported valuation associated with the December 2025 ownership change. | Legal Business described it as the highest valuation for a Championship club at the time. Ipswich’s announcement did not state a valuation, and Ipswich.co.uk noted that the figure was unconfirmed and that reports differed. |
| £351 million | Ipswich Town’s valuation at 30 June 2025, as reported from Gamechanger 20’s accounts. | TWTD reported the accounts figure; it is a dated company valuation, not a personal-net-worth estimate. |
| Around £400 million | TWTD’s reported estimate for the later restructure. | TWTD said the estimate differed from the lower figure reported elsewhere. |
The club did not officially confirm the £350 million transaction figure in its announcement, according to Ipswich.co.uk. Football-finance expert Dr Dan Plumley, associate head of business development at Sheffield Hallam University’s Business School, told the outlet: “I would still say to hit those kind of numbers though (£350m) you should be in the Premier League at least.” That is an expert’s view of a reported valuation, not an official club figure. Valuations also depend on assumptions: as the Legal Business report noted, a revenue-multiple approach could imply a lower value.
Do Ipswich’s accounts show how rich its owners are?
No. The accounts provide information about the club and its ownership company, not the investors’ personal balance sheets. TWTD reported that Gamechanger 20 recorded a £19.35 million loss for the year to the end of June 2025, while Ipswich Town had turnover of £153.67 million during the 2024/25 season. A company loss and club turnover measure financial activity over a period; neither tells readers the owners’ personal net worth.

How does Ipswich compare with the Championship’s wealthiest clubs?
A fair comparison cannot be made from the available figures. The sources reviewed do not establish a consistent Championship-wide ranking of owner wealth or comparable personal-net-worth estimates for the relevant ownership groups. Ipswich’s £350 million reported club valuation cannot be set beside an individual owner’s estimated fortune and treated as the same kind of wealth.

- We can't read and we can't write but that don't really matter, we come down from Ipswich Town and we can drive a Tractor.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
- an individual or family’s estimated personal net worth;
- a company’s or investment fund’s assets or capital;
- a football club’s reported transaction or accounts valuation; and
- club revenue, debt, profit or loss for a specified financial year.
Without those distinctions, a table of “richest owners” would risk mixing personal fortunes, institutional funds and club values into a misleading league table. Ipswich’s investor-backed structure is clear; its owners’ combined personal wealth, and a comparable ranking against other Championship clubs, are not established by the figures available.
