Those figures were historical, model-specific offers—not guaranteed nationwide savings or deals available today. JD Power’s roundup used a Los Angeles-area ZIP code and reflected information it considered current on July 9, 2024; Cars.com’s separate Fourth of July examples included offers ending July 8.
What counted as a July 2024 car deal?
There was no single best offer for every buyer: the value depended on the vehicle, where it was sold, how it was financed, and whether the shopper qualified for targeted incentives. JD Power’s July roundup used a popular Los Angeles, California ZIP code and said its information was as complete and accurate as possible on July 9, 2024. It warned that offers varied by model and could change or expire. Its amounts are best read as dated examples rather than nationwide guarantees. Read JD Power’s roundup.
Cars.com captured a separate Fourth of July promotion snapshot, including offers with a July 8 end date; those examples should not be treated as available throughout July. Read Cars.com’s holiday roundup. CarEdge also published lease-payment examples for June and July 2024, which are historical, not current quotes. Read CarEdge’s lease examples.
Notable cash offers and incentives
JD Power reported these maximums across the offers it listed. “Up to” describes a reported cap under particular model and eligibility conditions, not a typical saving available to every buyer.

#1 Best Overall
| Brand or offer | Reported July 2024 amount | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Lexus | Up to $18,500 in cash offers | JD Power’s reported maximum across listed offers; the source does not establish that every model or buyer qualified. |
| BMW | Up to $15,000 in cash offers | JD Power’s reported maximum across listed offers; check the applicable model and terms. |
| Toyota PHEV or EV | Up to $15,250 in reported purchase or lease value | A maximum in JD Power’s July incentive roundup, not a universal tax-credit entitlement. |
| Jeep | Up to $9,500 cash; up to $15,000 loyalty cash | JD Power listed general cash and a separate, targeted loyalty offer. The loyalty amount was not a general rebate. |
These are figures reported by JD Power in 2024, not direct quotations from automaker offer documents. The underlying details could differ by vehicle, location, and buyer qualification. See the source roundup.
Which cars had 0% financing?
JD Power included 0% APR among the lowest reported promotional financing rates for Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The rate depended on the qualifying vehicle and offer terms; the brand-level list does not mean every model from each brand had 0% financing. JD Power described discounted APR offers as typically requiring very good or excellent credit and financing through a specified lender. Check the original roundup for the model-specific offer rather than assuming a brand-wide rate. View JD Power’s reported financing offers.
A promotional APR and a cash rebate may not be combinable. Do not add advertised incentives together unless the applicable written offer explicitly allows it. To compare financing with cash back, calculate the loan cost under the actual APR and term, then compare it with the cash price after eligible rebates.
Cash rebates, loyalty offers, conquest cash, and EV value
Promotions described as “cash” did not all work the same way. In its explanation of incentives, JD Power distinguished broad purchase-or-lease cash offers from targeted customer incentives and financing promotions:
Rank #3
- General cash offers: Cash incentives the publication described as generally available for a purchase or lease, subject to the offer’s specific terms.
- Loyalty cash: An incentive aimed at a person who already owns or leases a vehicle from that manufacturer.
- Conquest cash: An incentive aimed at an owner or lessee of a competing brand’s vehicle.
- Discounted APR: A lower financing rate tied to borrower qualification and a designated finance source.
- EV-related value: An incentive that may depend on federal credit eligibility. JD Power noted that automakers may apply a credit amount to lower lease payments on models that would otherwise not qualify for the credit.
Whether a buyer qualifies—and whether two offers can be combined—depends on the written terms for the specific vehicle. The roundup does not establish universal eligibility or combinability. Review JD Power’s incentive descriptions.
A dated Fourth of July example: 2024 Kia Forte
Cars.com named the 2024 Kia Forte its editor’s choice and reported a $1,250 factory discount, an approximate after-savings price of $20,000–$25,500, and an offer end date of July 8, 2024. These were Cars.com’s figures for that holiday snapshot, not a current quote or a promotion that lasted all month. See Cars.com’s reported Forte offer.

How to compare the historical lease examples
CarEdge’s June and July 2024 examples paired each monthly payment with the lease duration and amount due at signing. That upfront amount changes the practical cost comparison: a low monthly payment alone does not show how much cash was required to start the lease. The examples also do not establish total ownership cost.
| Vehicle | Reported monthly payment | Lease duration | Due at signing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kia Forte | $179 | 24 months | $3,434 |
| Toyota bZ4X | $259 | 36 months | $0 |
These are historical CarEdge examples, not live offers. The cited examples do not supply all contract details a shopper needs for a full cost comparison, such as mileage limits, fees, and end-of-lease obligations. Confirm those terms in the actual lease offer. See CarEdge’s examples.

What to verify before relying on a car offer
The July 2024 figures are useful for understanding the range and types of promotions reported at the time, but not for estimating what a dealer will offer now. For any offer you are considering, verify the following directly with the automaker or dealer and get the terms in writing:
- Exact model, trim, powertrain, location, and offer expiration date.
- Whether the advertised amount is a general rebate or requires loyalty, conquest, or another qualification.
- For financing, the required credit qualification, lender, APR, loan term, and whether cash incentives are excluded.
- For leases, the due-at-signing amount, mileage allowance, fees, and end-of-lease obligations.
- Whether incentives can be combined, and whether any EV-related amount depends on eligibility or is applied through the lease.
JD Power itself recommended checking automaker or local-dealer details because the listed deals could vary by area. Consult the dated roundup as a historical reference, then rely on a current written offer for any present-day purchase.
