On April 3, 2023, Cybereason announced a $100 million investment led by SoftBank Corp. and said Eric Gan would become its CEO, subject to board confirmation and customary regulatory approvals. The announcement was later described by Cybereason as the start of an expanded $120 million 2023 round—not a second round. A separate $120 million investment followed in 2025.
What did Cybereason announce in April 2023?
Cybereason’s April 3, 2023 announcement paired an investment with a proposed leadership change. The company said the $100 million investment was led by SoftBank Corp. and would support global growth and innovation in its extended detection and response (XDR), endpoint detection and response (EDR), and endpoint protection platform (EPP) offerings. Cybereason’s April 3 announcement
The release named Eric Gan, then an Executive Vice President of SoftBank Corp., as the incoming CEO. His appointment was conditional on company board confirmation and customary regulatory approvals; it should not be read as an unconditional appointment completed on announcement day. Co-founder and then-CEO Lior Div was expected to transition to an advisor role.
Cybereason said Gan’s relationship with the company began with SoftBank’s 2015 investment. Its release also cited his prior roles at SoftBank, eAccess, and Goldman Sachs. Those are background details provided by the company, not independent assessments of the investment or leadership plan.

How did the 2023 funding amount change?
In a September 21, 2023 update, Cybereason said the round initially announced in April had expanded from $100 million to $120 million, with SoftBank Corp. leading and additional backing from existing investors. The company also announced Manish Narula as CFO and Gregory Puff as General Counsel. Cybereason’s September 21 update
That makes the two 2023 figures successive reported totals for the same round: the April announcement was $100 million, and the September update put the expanded round at $120 million. They should not be added together as separate investments.
How does the separate 2025 investment fit in?
On March 10, 2025, Cybereason announced a separate additional $120 million investment led by SoftBank Corp., SoftBank Vision Fund 2, and Liberty Strategic Capital. The same announcement said Narula would serve as CEO, effective immediately. It also said Cybereason would pursue an expanded strategic relationship with Trustwave instead of completing a previously announced intent to merge. Cybereason’s March 10, 2025 announcement

In the 2023 release, Gan said he had watched Cybereason grow and cited its position in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for EPP and its MITRE ATT&CK results. That is Gan’s characterization in the company’s announcement, not an independent finding established by the funding news. The April 2023 release
