Trend Micro announced the opening of its Global Operations Headquarters in Irving, Texas, near Dallas, on September 17, 2013. The site was described as a US base for several operational teams—not as a relocation of the company’s global or legal headquarters.
Where and when did Trend Micro open the office?
The company announced the grand opening on September 17, 2013, in Irving’s Las Colinas area. Its release listed the ribbon-cutting address as 225 E. John Carpenter Freeway, Suite 1500. Trend Micro’s Q3 2013 earnings materials also identify the Irving location and its operational scope. Trend Micro’s September 17, 2013 announcement and Q3 2013 earnings materials.
What teams were based there?
Trend Micro said the office would house threat research, finance, legal, customer support, commercial sales and marketing, and human resources. The company said 220 employees would initially work there, with room for potential expansion.
The company presented the move as a way to establish a US base of operations. Executives cited the Dallas–Fort Worth area’s talent pool and ease of global travel as reasons for choosing the location; those were company-stated rationales, not independent assessments.

Was this Trend Micro’s global headquarters?
The 2013 announcement called the Irving site a “Global Operations Headquarters” and described it as a US base of operations. That wording does not establish that Trend Micro moved its global or legal head office to Texas. The company’s contact page currently lists the Irving address as its US Headquarters and separately lists Japan Headquarters in Tokyo. Trend Micro’s contact page.
What happened after the opening?
In a follow-up newsroom release dated October 29, 2014, Trend Micro described the Las Colinas headquarters as expanding after its 2013 launch. It reported hiring in sales, channel marketing, customer service, customer technology support, and business applications, and again outlined the departments based at the site. What else accompanied the 2013 opening?
The opening coincided with Trend Micro’s 25th anniversary and the launch of an educational grant program for K–12 schools. The company said each recipient would receive a package valued at $25,000, combining cash, software, and technology services, and that the initiative included an internet-safety awareness assembly. The announcement does not specify the cash-only portion or establish how many recipients or schools ultimately received grants.
The release also cited an IDC figure of 30.8 percent for worldwide corporate server security revenue market share. Trend Micro attributed it to IDC’s Worldwide Endpoint Security 2013–2017 Forecast and 2012 Vendor Shares, document 242618, dated August 2013; the figure is Trend Micro’s reproduction of the IDC ranking, not a separately verified figure from the underlying IDC report.
