The headline refers to a historical November 2024 deal, not a confirmed offer available today. HotHardware reported that Amazon listed TCL’s 98-inch Q65 QLED TV, model 98Q651G, for $1,598 and described the price as 47% off; the same report put Best Buy’s price at $1,599.99. Those figures do not establish the TV’s current price or availability.
Is the TCL 98-inch TV really 47% off?
HotHardware’s November 8, 2024 article described the reported Amazon price of $1,598 as 47% off. That percentage is the publication’s claim; its comparison baseline is not established by the figures here. TCL’s May 2024 launch announcement listed a $3,999.99 MSRP for model 98Q651G. Comparing $1,598 directly with that MSRP gives a reduction of about 60%, not 47%, so the two figures should not be treated as proof of the same calculation.
The offer and the discount description belong to the 2024 report, not to a live sale. Read HotHardware’s original deal report; TCL’s launch announcement lists the manufacturer’s MSRP. See TCL’s May 2024 announcement.
How much was the TCL 98-inch Q65 at Amazon?
| Retailer or reference | Price reported | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon | $1,598 | HotHardware’s November 2024 report; it called this 47% off. |
| Best Buy | $1,599.99 | Price reported by HotHardware in November 2024. |
| TCL launch MSRP | $3,999.99 | Manufacturer’s announced MSRP for model 98Q651G in May 2024. |
These are historical reference points, not a current price comparison. A later TCL 98-inch television is a different model and cannot confirm that the Q65 remains on sale. Best Buy’s page for the 2025 98QM7K, for example, concerns that newer model; its listed price and page availability do not establish anything about the 98Q651G or the wider market. What model is TCL 98Q651G?
It is TCL’s 98-inch Q Class 4K QLED smart TV, marketed as the Q65. TCL’s U.S. product page lists Google TV, four HDMI inputs including one eARC input, and support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. TCL specifies a 120Hz panel for the 85- and 98-inch Q65 sizes and lists variable refresh rate (VRR) up to 144Hz for the product.
TCL’s 2024 launch announcement also used the name “Game Accelerator 240” for gaming. That marketing label should not be confused with the separate product-page specification of VRR up to 144Hz. Specifications and feature descriptions here are manufacturer-reported, not independent test results. Check TCL’s 98Q651G specifications.

Will a 98-inch TV fit through your doorway?
Measure the entire delivery route before ordering: the entrance, door opening, hallway turns, stairs or elevator, and the space where the TV will be installed. A room that can accommodate a large screen may still have a delivery path that cannot accommodate its carton. Measurements below are TCL’s listed dimensions and weights; they do not guarantee that the set or package will pass through a particular home.
| 98Q651G measurement | TCL-listed figure |
|---|---|
| TV with stand (W × H × D) | 85.8 × 50.8 × 16.5 inches |
| TV without stand (W × H × D) | 85.8 × 49.1 × 2.8 inches |
| Distance between stand feet | 68.5 inches |
| Weight with stand | 124.6 pounds |
| Weight without stand | 120.2 pounds |
| Shipping package (W × H × D) | 94.3 × 61.2 × 10.0 inches |
| Shipping package weight | 202.6 pounds |
For a cabinet or table, check its usable width, depth and load capacity against the TV and stand. The feet are 68.5 inches apart, so a surface that is wide enough for the screen may still be too narrow to support both feet.

What wall mount fits a TCL 98Q651G?
TCL lists a 500 × 600 mm VESA mounting pattern and a weight of 120.2 pounds without the stand. Before buying a mount, verify that its VESA pattern matches, that its supported screen size and weight limit cover this exact TV, and that the wall and installation hardware can safely support the load. Those specifications do not establish that any particular mount is compatible; TCL’s product page is the reference for the TV’s listed pattern and weight.
