There is no verified public calculation showing that Burnley owner Alan Pace has a personal net worth of £190 million. The figure should be treated as an estimate, not an established fact. Public records and reporting do show a career spanning investment banking and football management, followed by the 2020 acquisition of a majority stake in Burnley by ALK Capital’s sports investment arm, Velocity Sports Partners. Those facts explain his route into football ownership; they do not reveal his personal balance sheet.
How did Alan Pace build his career?
Burnley’s official biography says Pace earned a master’s degree in International Finance from IESE Business School in Barcelona. He began his financial career at Lehman Brothers and became a managing director. He later moved into sports leadership after entrepreneur Dave Checketts recruited him as CEO and president of Major League Soccer club Real Salt Lake. Burnley FC’s biography documents that career path, but does not publish his compensation, investments or personal assets.
The sequence—finance, then executive leadership in sport—offers context for Pace’s role in a sports investment group. It is not enough to calculate how much wealth he accumulated. A personal net-worth figure requires information about assets and liabilities as well as income; the sources cited here do not provide that information.
What did ALK Capital pay for Burnley?
In December 2020, the Premier League announced that Velocity Sports Partners, ALK Capital’s sports investment arm, had secured a majority shareholding in Burnley. The league’s announcement establishes the ownership transaction, not Pace’s personal contribution to it.

BBC Sport reported that ALK spent around £170 million for an 84% controlling stake. That is a reported transaction value for the controlling stake, not a valuation of Pace’s individual wealth or proof that he personally supplied the purchase price. BBC Sport’s December 2020 report does not establish his personal share of the funding.
How was the takeover financed?
Contemporary reports described borrowing as part of the acquisition financing, but they differ in their stated amount and scope. They should not be combined into a single funding figure.
| Report | What it said | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| BBC Sport, February 2021 | £65 million had initially been borrowed from MSD UK; further financing was still needed at the time of the report. | A reported initial borrowing amount and a contemporaneous note that financing remained incomplete—not a full audited funding schedule. BBC Sport |
| The Guardian, 2 February 2021 | An approximately £60 million loan from MSD UK Holdings financed some initial payments. | A separately reported approximate loan amount and purpose; it is not necessarily directly comparable with the BBC’s figure. The Guardian |
These reports give context for how the takeover was financed. Neither identifies the amount Pace personally invested, nor do the two figures amount to a disclosed personal balance sheet.
Do company records establish Pace’s personal net worth?
No. Burnley FC Holdings Limited’s 2024 accounts identify ALK Capital LLC as the ultimate parent and Alan Pace as the ultimate controlling party. That is a corporate-control disclosure, not a statement of Pace’s personal assets or debts. The company accounts should not be read as a personal wealth valuation.

A 2025 Norton Rose Fulbright ownership report lists Pace, Michael Smith and Stuart Hunt as ultimate beneficial owners of ALK Capital LLC. That identifies ownership relationships; it does not state the value of Pace’s interest or his overall net worth. The ownership report does not supply a personal valuation.

The reviewed material does not identify the original publisher of the exact £190 million figure or explain how it was calculated. A 2025 analysis by The Northern Gazette says press estimates of Pace’s net worth range from about £190 million to £270 million and characterizes them as speculative and unsupported by audited disclosure. That is a description of public estimates, not confirmation of any figure in the range. The Northern Gazette’s analysis does not provide a transparent valuation method.
Accordingly, the evidence supports saying that £190 million is an estimate in circulation—not that Pace is verified to be worth that amount. The reported Burnley purchase price, club control records and ALK ownership disclosures cannot substitute for a personal financial statement.
