Elma Electronic AG agreed to acquire Swiss engineering and electronics business Trenew Electronic AG on November 9, 2015. The deal was effective retroactively from January 1, 2015, and Elma began consolidating Trenew in November. The purchase price was not disclosed in the contemporaneous report.
When did Elma acquire Trenew?
Elma announced that it had signed the acquisition contract on November 9, 2015. The transaction was effective retroactively from January 1, 2015, while Trenew was consolidated into Elma from November 2015. These are distinct dates: the contract announcement came in November, but the stated effective date reached back to the start of that year.
eeNews Europe reported the agreement and timing on November 9, 2015.
What did Trenew Electronic do?
Trenew was a Swiss company based in Rüti ZH. Its activities included embedded computing systems, electronic packaging, power supplies, electronic engineering, and assembly and testing. It had a production site in Rüti and sales staff in Germany and Switzerland.

The contemporaneous report put Trenew’s 2014 revenue at approximately CHF 19 million and its workforce at approximately 40 people. Those are reported figures for Trenew, not later Elma group results.
Why did Elma acquire Trenew?
Elma described the transaction as part of its growth strategy. Its stated aims were to expand its systems business and expertise in integrated system solutions, strengthen its position in standard and customized electronic packaging, and enter the power-supply market by applying engineering know-how it already had.

The strategic fit was across capabilities and reach: Trenew brought embedded systems, packaging, and power-supply activity, along with production in Switzerland and sales presence in Germany and Switzerland.
How much did Elma pay?
The transaction report said the financial details were not disclosed. It did not provide a purchase price or valuation, so the amount Elma paid cannot be established from that announcement.

What does the deal mean in the context of Elma today?
Elma’s February 2026 announcement of FY2025 results describes the group as a global manufacturer of electronic packaging products for the embedded-systems market. Its product areas include components, backplanes, power-supply solutions, storage boards, chassis platforms, and integrated systems. This offers current group context, but does not establish Trenew’s present legal status, branding, or operating arrangements.
For FY2025, Elma reported CHF 184.0 million in order income and CHF 176.0 million in net sales. These are Elma group figures, not Trenew figures or a measure of the acquisition’s standalone performance. Elma’s investor announcements include the FY2025 results published February 27, 2026.
