No—AT&T’s consumer Refer-A-Friend offer is described as bill credits, not cash. AT&T’s support terms say credits have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or cash equivalents. The credit amounts also differ between AT&T’s public referral page and its support material, so check the offer shown in your referral portal before counting on a specific reward.
What you can earn: bill credits, not cash
AT&T presents its consumer Refer-A-Friend program as a way for eligible customers and their referred friends to receive credits on their AT&T bills. The support terms state: “Credits have no cash value, are not redeemable for cash or any cash equivalent and are not transferable or refundable.” That means the program does not provide spendable cash or a cash-equivalent payout.
The published amounts are inconsistent. AT&T’s public Refer-A-Friend page exposes terms listing a $50 bill credit for the referrer and $100 for the friend (AT&T Refer-A-Friend page). AT&T-hosted support material instead lists $25 for the referrer and $75 for the new customer (AT&T Community Connections Support). The support document appears older, but the public page does not establish which amount applies to a particular customer’s current offer. Confirm the amounts and terms in your logged-in referral portal before sharing a link or making a decision.
Who may be eligible to refer a friend
AT&T’s public page identifies two eligible referrer groups: existing AT&T Fiber customers on a plan of 300 Mbps or higher, and existing AT&T postpaid wireless customers whose accounts are in good standing. Your logged-in offer should be treated as the authority for your account’s eligibility and applicable terms.

How the referral process works
- Check your current offer. Sign in to AT&T’s referral portal and confirm that your account is eligible, which services qualify, and the credit amounts and conditions displayed.
- Get your referral link or QR code. The program uses a referral link or QR code to connect your friend to the offer.
- Have your friend order qualifying new service through the referral. The support material describes qualifying service as new AT&T Fiber at 300 Mbps or higher, or new postpaid wireless service.
- Wait for activation or installation. The referred customer must complete the required activation or installation for credits to be applied.
- Meet the account conditions. AT&T’s support material says both accounts must remain active and in good standing when credits are applied. Check the current offer for any additional requirements or timing.
What to verify before you refer someone
Because the AT&T materials show different rewards, review the current terms attached to your own referral link rather than relying on an amount quoted elsewhere. Check these details in the portal:
- Whether your account and plan qualify.
- Which new service the friend must order.
- The credit amount for each person.
- Whether activation or installation is required and when credits are applied.
- Any account-standing conditions or referral limit.
Older AT&T support material mentions a maximum of two $25 referrer credits per month, but that document is dated and does not establish a current universal cap. Do not assume that limit applies to your present offer; confirm any cap in the portal terms.

Do not confuse this with AT&T’s other referral programs
AT&T has separate referral offers with different rules. Its business referral program lists compensation for qualifying business referrals, while the FirstNet referral offer has its own eligibility and card-based terms. Those programs are not the consumer Fiber and postpaid wireless Refer-A-Friend offer and do not make its bill credits cash.
Likewise, terms from AT&T’s legacy Reward for Referrals program describe a different historical residential offer. Its former reward options, caps, deadlines, or state restrictions should not be treated as current Refer-A-Friend rules.
