Microsoft 365 Copilot에서 Anthropic 모델을 사용하는 기능은 이미 일부 제품과 환경에 제공되고 있습니다. 다만 지원되는 앱과 지역, 관리자 설정에 따라 이용 가능 여부가 달라지며, Claude를 선택할 수 있게 됐다는 사실만으로 기업의 벤더 종속 위험이 실제로 줄었다고 단정할 수는 없습니다.
‘도입 추진’에서 실제 제공 단계로: 무엇이 달라졌나
제목의 ‘Office 365’는 현재 제품명인 Microsoft 365를 가리킵니다. Microsoft Learn은 2026년 9월 3일 업데이트한 문서에서 지원되는 Word, Excel, PowerPoint의 Copilot 경험에 Anthropic 모델을 사용할 수 있다고 설명합니다. 해당 모델은 콘텐츠를 생성하거나 기존 콘텐츠를 개선하는 데 활용될 수 있습니다. 이 설정은 다른 Copilot 기능의 사용 설정과 별개일 수 있습니다.
Anthropic 모델 사용 옵션은 Microsoft 상용 Copilot, Researcher, Copilot Studio, Power Platform 및 일부 Microsoft 365 앱에서도 문서화돼 있습니다. 제품별로 제공 범위와 모델 선택 방식이 다르므로, 이를 모든 Copilot 기능에서 모든 사용자가 Claude를 직접 고를 수 있다는 뜻으로 해석하면 안 됩니다.
별도로 Microsoft는 Claude와 긴밀히 개발한 Copilot Cowork를 Frontier 프로그램을 통해 소개했습니다. Microsoft의 2026년 5월 28일 공지에 따르면 Claude Opus 4.8은 Copilot Cowork (Frontier)에서 제공됐으며 Copilot Chat으로 배포가 확대되고 있었습니다. Frontier는 초기 접근 프로그램이므로 일반 제공과 구분해야 하며, 모델명과 배포 범위는 이후 바뀔 수 있습니다.

Copilot 안의 Claude와 Claude의 Microsoft 365 연결은 다르다
이 두 기능은 이름이 비슷해도 작동 방식과 관리상 의미가 다릅니다. Copilot 내부에서 Anthropic 모델을 쓰는 기능과, Anthropic의 Claude 서비스가 Microsoft 365 데이터에 연결되는 기능은 별도 통합입니다.

connector 관련 권한과 제한은 Claude connector에 관한 내용입니다. 이를 Copilot 내부의 Anthropic 모델 기능에도 자동으로 적용되는 조건으로 받아들여서는 안 됩니다.

데이터 처리 위치와 계약 조건은 지역·모델별로 확인해야 한다
Microsoft 문서는 Anthropic 모델을 Microsoft의 하위 처리자로 설명하며, Anthropic 모델에 입력된 데이터는 Word, Excel, PowerPoint의 Copilot 경험에서도 Microsoft EU Data Boundary 밖에서 처리될 수 있다고 밝힙니다. 따라서 Microsoft 365를 사용한다는 이유만으로 Anthropic 모델 처리 데이터도 EU Data Boundary 안에 머문다고 가정할 수 없습니다.
일반적인 해당 사용에는 Microsoft Product Terms와 Microsoft Data Protection Addendum이 적용된다고 Microsoft가 문서화했습니다. 다만 일부 고급 모델에는 별도의 데이터 보존 조건과 약관이 적용될 수 있습니다. 모든 Anthropic 모델에 같은 보존 기간이나 계약 조건이 적용된다고 일반화하지 말고, 실제로 사용할 모델과 테넌트에 적용되는 조건을 확인해야 합니다.

지역별 기본 설정과 제공 범위
- 대부분의 상용 클라우드: Microsoft 문서상 Anthropic 처리는 기본적으로 활성화돼 있습니다.
- EU/EFTA/UK: 기본적으로 비활성화돼 있습니다. Microsoft Learn은 해당 지역 고객이 Copilot 앱 안에서 Anthropic 모델을 기본 모델로 사용하도록 하는 별도 관리자 설정이 2026년 4월 3일 도입됐다고 설명합니다.
- 비연방 GCC: Microsoft 문서에 따르면 관련 설정은 2026년 7월 22일부터 제공됩니다.
- 연방 GCC, GCC High, DoD 및 기타 일부 소버린 클라우드: 이용 불가 범위가 명시돼 있으므로 일반 상용 테넌트와 같은 가용성을 전제로 해서는 안 됩니다.
관리자는 Anthropic 모델 사용을 허용하거나 제한할 수 있다
Microsoft는 관리자가 Microsoft 365 admin center의 AI provider subprocessors 설정에서 Anthropic 접근을 허용하거나 차단하고, 사용자 또는 그룹 범위를 지정할 수 있다고 안내합니다. 설정 흐름에는 AI Administrator 또는 Global Administrator 권한이 요구됩니다. EU/EFTA/UK의 별도 앱 설정 등 지역·앱별 조건이 있으므로, 전역 설정만 보고 실제 사용 가능 상태를 판단하지 말고 해당 테넌트의 현재 설정을 확인해야 합니다.
관리자가 사용을 차단할 수 있다는 점은 선택지를 제공하지만, 기능이 적용되는 앱마다 설정이 다를 수 있습니다. 조직은 사용하려는 제품과 사용자 그룹을 먼저 정한 뒤, 실제 테넌트에서 허용 상태와 사용자별 적용 범위를 점검하는 편이 안전합니다.

이 기능이 벤더 종속을 줄인다고 입증됐나?
현재 확인되는 변화는 Copilot 제품 일부에서 Anthropic 모델을 이용할 수 있는 선택지가 생겼다는 것입니다. 그러나 선택할 모델이 하나 더 있다는 사실만으로 공급업체 종속이 줄었다거나, 다른 서비스로 업무를 옮기는 비용이 낮아졌다거나, 고객의 협상력이 커졌다고 결론 내릴 수는 없습니다. 이 변화를 종속 위험에 대한 ‘대응’이라고 부를 수는 있어도, 검증된 성과라고 단정할 근거는 없습니다.
기업이 실질적인 선택권을 판단하려면 모델 선택 외에도 다음 항목을 따로 살펴야 합니다.

- 접근 방식: Copilot 안에서 모델을 사용하는지, Claude connector로 Microsoft 365 데이터에 접근시키는지 구분합니다.
- 업무 범위: 필요한 앱과 제품에서 실제로 기능이 제공되는지, 일반 제공인지 Frontier 같은 초기 접근인지 확인합니다.
- 데이터·계약: 처리 위치, 적용 약관, 데이터 보존 조건을 지역과 모델별로 확인합니다.
- 관리 통제: 전역 설정뿐 아니라 앱별 설정, 사용자·그룹 범위, 사용 중지 절차를 점검합니다.
- 전환 가능성: 모델을 바꿨을 때 실제 업무 흐름과 데이터 접근 방식이 얼마나 달라지는지 별도로 평가합니다. 모델 선택 기능의 존재만으로 전환 비용이나 이동성이 개선됐다고 볼 수는 없습니다.
Microsoft의 제품 설명은 기능과 정책을 파악하는 데 도움이 되지만, 특정 기업의 벤더 종속이 얼마나 감소했는지를 독립적으로 측정한 통계나 비교 결과는 제시하지 않습니다. 도입 판단은 기능 제공 여부와 별도로 조직의 데이터·계약·운영 요구에 맞춰야 합니다.
