The three modules represented are:
- The Entrepreneurial Mindset
- The Entrepreneurial Process
- Creativity and Innovation
Module 1: The Entrepreneurial Mindset
Ruby and Nyla: operating a business versus pursuing growth
The case contrasts Ruby, who runs a local-sweets bakery and manages its daily operations, with Nyla, whose technology start-up is intended to disrupt a market and scale. Candidates are asked to distinguish entrepreneurship from small-business management using evidence from the scenario, identify three entrepreneurship myths reflected in it, and discuss three potential pitfalls in Nyla’s entrepreneurial journey.
The case invites application of concepts such as growth ambition, hands-on operations, uncertainty, and unrealistic expectations. A strong response needs to tie each point to the people and circumstances described rather than rely only on general definitions.

Module 2: The Entrepreneurial Process
Mary’s eatery: from idea to opportunity
Mary is considering opening an eatery. Zara points out that a promising idea is not automatically a viable opportunity: the candidate must consider whether there is a market, whether the venture can earn income, and what resources it requires. The questions ask candidates to explain the idea–opportunity distinction with reference to the case.
Implementation, management, and harvesting
The case then follows the venture beyond initial evaluation. Implementation includes planning and obtaining approvals; management involves running operations, meeting obligations to resource providers, and deciding whether to reinvest. The questions also ask candidates to assess three harvesting routes:
- Selling the business
- Passing it to family through succession
- Taking it public
These routes are presented as options to evaluate, not as interchangeable outcomes. Candidates should discuss the implications of each in the context of the scenario.

Miguel’s machine and community initiative
Miguel improves a coconut-processing machine so it can pick coconuts and grate the flesh. He also establishes a not-for-profit initiative intended to encourage replanting, broaden community income, support sustainability, and reduce coconut waste. The paper asks why creativity matters and how paradigm, process, and product innovation apply to the case.

The scenario also presents obstacles: community leaders resist the initiative, community engagement is low, volunteers are unreliable, and the founder’s resources are under pressure. Candidates are asked to discuss the social-innovation challenges shown. Answers should connect those barriers to the case rather than simply list generic problems.
How to prepare for this paper
- Review all three Unit 1 modules; the transcribed instructions assign a scenario to each.
- Practise applying concepts to case details, since the questions call for supporting evidence.
- For the venture-process material, be ready to distinguish an idea from an opportunity and to explain implementation, management, and harvesting.
- For creativity and innovation, distinguish the innovation types asked about and analyse practical challenges such as stakeholder resistance and volunteer reliability.
