T-Mobile USA reported a planned reduction of 393 employees across Washington in a notice to the state Employment Security Department. The notice estimated April 2, 2026, as the first separation date; it does not establish that every affected employee left on that date or confirm the final number of separations.

What T-Mobile reported to Washington

T-Mobile USA, Inc. dated its notice January 30, 2026, and the Washington Employment Security Department marked it received February 2. The notice says at least 60 days’ advance notice had been or would be provided, and estimates April 2 as the first separation date. Those are the employer’s reported plan and estimate, not confirmation of completed layoffs. The notice, hosted by KHQ, is the underlying source for the reported count and dates.

The notice describes the reductions as expected to be permanent. It lists 16 worksites around the state, including Bellevue, Bothell, Bellingham, Snoqualmie, East Wenatchee, Spokane Valley, and Woodinville, as well as remote positions. It does not break down the 393 employees by worksite, so the filing does not show how many jobs are affected in any one city or office.

Which jobs and roles are included?

The job-classification list in the notice ranges from analysts, engineers, and technicians to care and sales coaches, managers, directors, and senior executives. GeekWire’s summary of the filing reported more than 200 affected job titles, nearly 210 employees at senior or director levels, and seven employees with VP or SVP titles. The filing includes one SVP of Talent and multiple VP legal-affairs classifications. These figures describe the roles in the notice; they do not provide a worksite-by-worksite breakdown. GeekWire’s report also includes the company’s emailed comment.

What T-Mobile said about the changes

The notice gives the reason for the reductions as “changing business needs.” That is the employer’s stated rationale, not an independent analysis of the cause. In a statement reported by GeekWire, T-Mobile said it was making changes while continuing to hire, to maintain the right focus and structure and keep pursuing innovation and customer service. GeekWire also reported the company described the market as “a dynamic market.”

Are offices closing?

No. The notice states, “These facilities are not being closed.” It also says the reductions were not due to relocation or contracting out employer operations or employee positions, while noting that some work might at some point be done by others. FOX 13 Seattle’s summary likewise reported the count, timing, statewide locations, remote and in-person roles, and non-closure statement, citing information from the Washington Employment Security Department.

What the filing does—and does not—confirm

  • Reported plan: T-Mobile notified the state of a planned reduction affecting 393 Washington employees.
  • Estimated timing: April 2, 2026, was the notice’s estimated first separation date, not a verified date when all separations took place.
  • Geographic detail: The notice names 16 worksites and remote positions but gives no affected-worker totals for individual sites.
  • Completion: The notice and the cited local reports do not independently verify the final number of separations or when they were completed.
