Norse Atlantic’s U.S. route cuts happened in stages, not as an immediate end to all U.S. flying. The airline cancelled its Los Angeles summer 2026 routes; in the winter 2026–27 schedule snapshot reported on September 22, 2026, its planned London Gatwick–JFK and Rome–JFK services were also removed. Gatwick–Orlando was the only scheduled transatlantic route left in that snapshot. Norse’s separate ACMI and charter work is not the same as its scheduled passenger network.
Which Norse Atlantic routes to the U.S. were cut?
Los Angeles: summer 2026
Norse’s 2026 interim report said it cancelled all of its Los Angeles summer routes because of high jet fuel prices. The report also said production in the airline’s own network fell 64% year over year in Q2 2026, partly because of the cancellations. New York: winter 2026–27
Aviation Week reported on September 22, 2026, citing OAG schedule data, that planned London Gatwick–JFK and Rome Fiumicino–JFK services were set to end from late October, after the final weeks of the summer schedule. These are separate changes: the Los Angeles cancellations applied to summer 2026, while the New York withdrawals concerned the winter 2026–27 schedule. Schedule data describes planned service and can change; it does not establish that a flight operated or that a particular passenger’s booking was cancelled.

How much planned capacity was removed?
OAG Schedules Analyser data, as reported by Aviation Week for the 2026 schedule, put planned capacity on the two New York routes at about 41,600 two-way seats. The combined capacity associated with those routes was about 83,200 two-way seats. Those are estimates of scheduled seat capacity—not booked passengers, people stranded, or flights actually flown. They quantify planned supply in the schedule, not the number of customers directly affected.

Does Norse Atlantic still fly to the U.S.?
In the September 22, 2026 winter schedule snapshot, yes: Gatwick–Orlando was the one scheduled transatlantic route listed. That is a statement about the schedule as reported on that date, not a guarantee of future service or a claim that Norse had stopped every kind of operation involving the United States.
Norse describes its business as having two distinct parts: its own scheduled network, and ACMI and charter operations. ACMI is an arrangement in which an airline provides an aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance to another operator. Such work is not the same thing as a Norse-branded scheduled passenger route, so changes to the route map do not by themselves establish that ACMI or charter activity has ended. Why is Norse changing its flying?
Norse specifically attributed the Los Angeles summer cancellations to high jet fuel prices in its 2026 interim report. Separately, in an operational update about ending its IndiGo ACMI cooperation, CEO Eivind Roald cited elevated fuel prices, airspace disruptions and longer routes related to the Middle East conflict as factors affecting that arrangement’s commercial viability. That statement concerned the IndiGo aircraft arrangement; it should not be treated as Norse’s full explanation for each U.S. route decision. Roald said of the IndiGo arrangement: “We have therefore jointly concluded that alternative deployment of the aircraft will be more commercially beneficial to both parties.” The comment referred to the aircraft arrangement, not specifically to the removal of the New York routes. How do aircraft placements fit into the changes?
Norse and IndiGo agreed to discontinue their arrangement. Norse said it planned to use some returning aircraft on selected profitable winter routes, including Europe–Orlando and Europe–New York, and was discussing ACMI placements for as many as five aircraft. The company’s 2025 annual report described a flexible strategy of opening and closing routes more quickly and using charter or ACMI work when it considers that more profitable. That is Norse’s stated approach, not independent evidence about the profitability or future of any specific route. What should travelers with a Norse booking do?
If you have a reservation on a route affected by a schedule change, check the specific booking and messages from Norse rather than relying on a route-map summary. The schedule reporting does not verify individual cancellations, refunds, rebooking options or legal remedies; those depend on the itinerary and circumstances. What the figures do—and do not—say
