Walmart’s U.S. 2025 Top Toys List is a holiday gift guide of 50 picks chosen by Walmart toy merchants—not an independently tested or ranked list. What Walmart’s 2025 list includes
Walmart organized the 50 selections into categories such as “25 Under $25,” budget finds under $15, screen and character favorites, learning and development, creativity, ride and race play, game night, and collectibles. These are browsing categories, not rankings, and some products appear in more than one section.
The list includes both physical toys and games, as well as a video game hardware bundle. Examples include Flip 7, Connect 4 Frenzy, the LEGO Super Mario Nintendo Game Boy Retro Building Set, Toniebox2 Starter Sets, and a Huffy kids’ bike. Walmart’s announcement does not provide a consistent age range, comparative test results, safety evaluation, or quality score for all the items, so it cannot establish which is objectively best or safest.

How to use the list when setting a gift budget
The categories offer a starting point for narrowing choices by budget or type of play, but a category label alone does not establish that an item falls under a particular amount today. Check the live listing before buying, especially for items near a spending limit. Compare the specific toy’s current price, age guidance, availability, and any safety notices on the retailer’s product page.
Walmart said in its announcement that it planned 500 toy-department rollbacks during the holiday season. That was a plan described in September 2025, not a promise that a given item is discounted now. The same announcement described shopping through stores, Walmart.com, the Walmart app, curbside pickup, two-day shipping, and Express Delivery in 90 minutes or less; delivery options and timing may depend on location and date.

What Walmart said about toy-shopping trends
Walmart cited Circana Retail Tracking Service data from August 2025 saying 37% of toys sold in the U.S. feature licensed characters. It also cited The Toy Association’s Toy Fair 2025 Top Toy Trends Briefing for the finding that 63% of millennial parents said social, emotional, and mental-health benefits were a top consideration when shopping for toys. These are figures Walmart attributed to those sources in its announcement, not a product-by-product assessment.
Walmart also said its Scintilla Holiday Shopping Customer Insights Survey from August 2025 found toys and video games among customers’ top five intended holiday-gifting categories. The announcement provides no percentage or underlying survey sample and methodology for that statement. It described collectibles as a growth area, citing Global Growth Insights’ August 2025 analysis, but gave no numerical market estimate.

What the list does—and does not—tell shoppers
Walmart presented the selection as a value-oriented holiday assortment chosen by its toy merchants. Brittany Smith, Walmart U.S. vice president of Toys, said the team aimed to offer “the most sought-after and exciting items” at Walmart’s everyday prices. That is the retailer’s stated merchandising goal, not an independent judgment of product quality or value.
