Kalshi vs. Polymarket fees: how the charges work
Both platforms calculate trading fees using the number of contracts or shares and the contract price; a headline rate alone does not show what a trade will cost. The schedules below are dated July 2026 and can change. They describe platform trading fees, not the full cost of entering and exiting a position.
Kalshi’s fee schedule
Kalshi’s schedule effective July 7, 2026 gives the general taker fee as round up(M × 0.07 × C × P × (1−P)), where M is the market’s multiplier, C is the number of contracts, and P is the contract price. The default multiplier is 1, but individual series may specify a different multiplier. The schedule’s general maker formula uses 0.0175, with a default maker multiplier of 0 unless otherwise indicated. These are formula coefficients, not flat percentages of trade value. Kalshi’s official fee schedule lists a $1.75 fee for 100 contracts at $0.50 on the general taker schedule.
Under the schedule, fees generally apply when an order immediately matches against the book; a resting order is generally not charged unless a maker fee applies to that series. Kalshi’s schedule states, “There is no settlement fee” and “There is no membership fee.” Check the multiplier and fee treatment for the specific series rather than assuming the general formula applies unchanged.

Polymarket’s category-based fees
Polymarket’s July 10, 2026 help page gives the taker fee formula as C × feeRate × p × (1−p). It says makers are not charged under the described schedule; takers pay rates that vary by category:
| Polymarket category | Taker fee rate |
|---|---|
| Crypto | 0.07 |
| Sports | 0.05 |
| Finance | 0.04 |
| Politics | 0.04 |
| Economics | 0.05 |
| Culture | 0.05 |
| Weather | 0.05 |
| Other/general | 0.05 |
| Mentions | 0.04 |
| Tech | 0.04 |
| Geopolitics/world events | 0 |
These are category fee rates used in the formula, not flat percentages applied to every trade’s value. The fee changes with price and number of shares, so confirm the category and live terms for the market you intend to trade. Polymarket’s fee help page says Polymarket itself charges no fee to deposit or withdraw USDC, but third-party intermediaries may charge.

Which prediction market has lower fees?
There is no reliable platform-wide answer. For a fair comparison, choose the same event or the closest equivalent, use the same side, price, quantity, and order behavior, and calculate each platform’s trading fee using that market’s current rules. Then account for the bid–ask spread, slippage, funding conversion, intermediary or network charges, and withdrawal costs. The cited schedules do not establish an all-in cost for a hypothetical cross-platform trade.
Kalshi vs. Polymarket funding and withdrawals
The available funding routes differ, and a no-fee deposit does not mean a transfer or trade has no other costs. Availability of a route can depend on account location and the payment provider.

Markets: compare the contracts, not just the titles
The platforms’ published category information does not establish that the same event is currently listed on both, or that similarly named contracts resolve the same way. Kalshi’s policy excludes specified subjects, including war, death, nuclear war, assassination, and kidnapping. Polymarket’s fee categories include crypto, sports, finance, politics, economics, culture, weather, general, mentions, technology, and geopolitics. Is Kalshi available in my state or country?
Kalshi’s signup help page, dated March 10, 2026, says applicants must be at least 18 and may need document verification. It describes international access but notes that some jurisdictions are restricted. Kalshi directs users to its Member Agreement and says each person is responsible for confirming that access and use are lawful where they live. “International access” does not mean universal access. The cited Polymarket materials establish category fees and a US-facing App Store listing, but they do not establish a complete, current state-by-state or country-by-country eligibility matrix for Polymarket’s products.
