This is a historical snapshot, not a live rate list. On September 24, 2025, GOBankingRates reported a 5.11% APY 12-month share certificate from Daniels-Sheridan Federal Credit Union, while Yahoo Finance listed LendingClub’s 8-month CD at 4.45% APY as its highest rate. The lists do not agree, so neither figure should be treated as a definitive market-wide best rate.
CD rates reported on September 24, 2025
The following offers were reported by the named publishers on September 24, 2025. Rates, terms and minimum deposits are the publishers’ reported figures; check with the issuer for current availability and full account conditions.
| Institution and product | Term | Reported APY | Minimum deposit | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Daniels-Sheridan Federal Credit Union share certificate | 12 months | 5.11% | $500 | GOBankingRates, September 24, 2025. Membership, location or other eligibility criteria may apply. |
| Ivy Bank CD | 3 months | 4.35% | $1,000 | GOBankingRates, September 24, 2025. |
| Bread Financial CD | 6 months | 4.40% | $1,500 | GOBankingRates, September 24, 2025. |
| USALLIANCE Financial no-penalty CD | 11 months | 4.10% | $500 | GOBankingRates, September 24, 2025; confirm the issuer’s withdrawal terms. |
| LendingClub CD | 8 months | 4.45% | Not stated in surfaced Yahoo Finance details | Yahoo Finance, September 24, 2025; confirm minimum and conditions with the issuer. |
These are publisher-reported offers, not a guarantee that an account was available to every saver. GOBankingRates says its list is not comprehensive, focuses on institutions with nationwide availability, and may reflect advertiser relationships and product-placement compensation. Eligibility and location restrictions may apply. Yahoo Finance’s surfaced roundup identifies the LendingClub rate, but does not establish its minimum deposit or full conditions here. The disagreement between the publishers cannot be resolved into one universally definitive ranking.
How the reported offers compare with near-date averages
The National Credit Union Administration’s Q3 2025 comparison lists average one-year CD rates of 3.03% at credit unions and 2.35% at banks, based on rates reported for September 26, 2025. The NCUA says the data were extracted from S&P Global Market Intelligence on October 7, 2025 and represent the last Friday of the quarter.

Those averages are useful context, not an apples-to-apples ranking against the September 24 promotional offers: they cover a different date and population, and the listed offers vary in term, eligibility and product features. In particular, a 3-month, 6-month or 11-month offer is not directly comparable to a one-year average.
What to check before choosing a CD
APY and compounding
Compare annual percentage yield (APY), not just the stated interest rate, and check whether the quoted yield depends on conditions such as a particular balance or account requirement. APY reflects the effect of compounding over a year; the amount earned over a shorter CD term will depend on the actual term and account terms.
Rank #2
Term and maturity date
Match the maturity date to when you may need the money. A higher yield may come with a longer period in which funds are committed, and withdrawing early from a standard CD can trigger a penalty. Review the account disclosure for the exact penalty and maturity options rather than assuming all CDs work alike.
Minimum deposit and eligibility
Check the required opening deposit and whether you qualify. Credit-union membership, location, state availability or other restrictions can make a published offer unavailable to you even if you can meet its minimum.

Access to funds
A no-penalty CD may offer a way to withdraw before maturity without the usual early-withdrawal penalty, but the label alone does not establish when or how much you can withdraw. Confirm the issuer’s full rules, including any waiting period, partial-withdrawal limits or other conditions. GOBankingRates’ roundup describes product categories; it does not replace the account agreement.
Deposit insurance
Verify that a bank is FDIC-insured or that a credit union is federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, and check applicable coverage limits and ownership categories with the relevant insurer. GOBankingRates says its listed accounts carry FDIC or National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund coverage, but you should confirm the institution and account details before depositing.

Why rates can differ between lists
Publisher roundups can cover different institutions and products, apply different eligibility or availability criteria, and update at different times. That helps explain why GOBankingRates’ September 24, 2025 list named Daniels-Sheridan’s 5.11% APY 12-month share certificate while Yahoo Finance called LendingClub’s 4.45% APY 8-month CD its highest rate. The published figures describe each outlet’s snapshot, not a single complete inventory of every CD available.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Federal Reserve context
On September 17, 2025, the Federal Open Market Committee lowered its federal funds target range by one-quarter percentage point to 4.00%–4.25%, effective September 18. The Fed said it acted “in support of its goals and in light of the shift in the balance of risks.” This policy rate is context for the broader interest-rate environment; it does not set CD APYs or establish that a particular issuer changed a specific offer because of the decision.

When a CD ladder may help
A CD ladder divides savings among CDs with different maturity dates. As each one matures, you can use that portion or reinvest it, creating scheduled access without putting the entire sum into one term. The trade-off is that future reinvestment rates are uncertain, and a ladder does not guarantee better returns. Consider it when staggered access matters more than locking all your savings into one maturity date.
