Its shops remained open and deliveries continued. The company later said operations had recovered; separate court settlement materials subsequently described personal information involved in the incident.
What happened, and when?
Krispy Kreme said it was notified of unauthorized activity affecting part of its IT systems on November 29, 2024. The company began investigating, containing the activity, and remediating its systems with help from external cybersecurity experts. It notified federal law enforcement.
The incident became public in a material-incident filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on December 11, 2024. At that point, Krispy Kreme said the scope, nature, and impact were not yet known. Its later disclosures add information, but do not provide a complete forensic account. The company filings reviewed do not identify an attacker or establish an intrusion method.
Were Krispy Kreme shops closed or deliveries stopped?
No. The December 11 filing said shops globally were open, customers could order in person, and fresh deliveries to retail and restaurant partners continued without interruption. The disruption described at initial disclosure affected online ordering in parts of the United States, not all ordering or store operations.

Krispy Kreme later reported that online ordering, retail shops, and core business functions were fully operational. In its second-quarter fiscal 2025 filing, it said its investigation was substantially complete. The recovery of operations did not itself resolve questions about what information had been accessed.
What personal information was involved?
A court-authorized settlement FAQ describes unauthorized access to or acquisition of settlement-class members’ private information. It lists some combination of names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and financial-account access information. The wording does not mean every person’s record contained every listed data type.

The FAQ concerns legal claims and settlement terms, not a finding that Krispy Kreme was at fault. The company denies the claims, wrongdoing, and liability; the court made no determination of wrongdoing or whether a law was violated. The FAQ’s claim deadline was June 22, 2026, which has passed. Anyone seeking current information about a possible remedy should check the court or settlement administrator rather than rely on that historical deadline.
